Like here I am chasing a 500lbs deadlift as a 6ft 190lb man. That would put me in the strongest 0.16% of the world. I go into my gym and the biggest guy is maybe pulling 580lbs.

But at the elite powerlifting level and there are 20 year old, 135lb women pulling 485.

Her. She pulls close to 500lbs. What are they feeding the kids these days? I mean, aside from stanoolol.

Pretty sure I did 400+ in 8th grade. I'm skinny as fuck too. Weighed maybe 160 at the time.

I was confused that the coach got mad and made me quit. But if what you are saying is true I can understand now.

It was just a group of us kids being competitive and kept adding weights.

This deadlift bar I've never seen since though. Probably made it easier. Was a square with bars on the sides for the weights then handles on top. You stepped into the middle of the square and lifted it up

That's called a trap bar. Let's you do a deadlift with slightly less hinge and range of motion. Arguably safer. You see a lot of older guys using it.

And yes most people can lift more with a trap bar. You start the movement in a high position, where you're stronger.

Yeah wanna say I got to 450 before the coach made us quit. But that's been half my life ago so memory could be foggy on that.

Meanwhile we had another guy squatting 480 and making it look easy. Also a eight grader. Not shit got said to him. But unlike me he had some visible muscle. I've just always been a weakling in upper body. My leg strength has always been good for my build
