Opinions so far, based on the PS5 version.

Game runs really good! No sign at all of the slowdown from the trailers.

Combat feels nice, looks like it has a lot of potential for variety. Combos are basic but the fights can get hectic and your aubabilities vary it up.

Can't comment on the story yet, but I will say that while the dub seems good they have bit even made an attempt to lip synch and its super distracting, so probably sticking to JP.

Very surprised, it's a strong first impression!

Slightly worried about that PS4 version though, can't speak for that.

Edit, since changing languages made me reload a cutscene.

The JP voice acting...ALSO doesn't match the lips at all?? Neither is even close.

It makes me wonder if there IS lip synching but they got it backwards in the demo.

Got a few save points in for tonight. Definitely a couple worries. There's been very little story thus far, enemies seem a bit repetitious, it's really easy to cap on some upgrade materials but you can spend them because you're short on others, and the game DESPERATELY needs a mini map.

None of these are game breaking though and it's still the first real area, there's definitely still something here. I'll hopefully finish the demo tomorrow.

I'll probably preorder just to get the HD remaster of Valkyrie Profile Lenneth and if the actual game is good then Hey that's a bonus

They'll be selling that for $20 seperately as well.

Augh my PS5 is out at Sony getting repaired and I really want to try this. I mean I could try the PS4 version but thats not the one Ill be buying.

I like it so far. Think I'm near the end of the demo. Combat feels pretty good, but right now there is no combo cancelling, so you tend to take hits from that.

I think I've encountered a bug. I'm in the final area and there is a chest that gives you 5 Violet Gems, and I am at 495/500 Violet Gems, and when I collect more, the game does not give me the remaining 5 I need to upgrade my last skill. Strange.

Yeah, there's some serious jank to this game. Nothing game breaking, but combat doesn't feel as smooth as it needs to for this type of action game. Seems like more abilities are unlocked as you go so it could get better.

Clicked on this topic hoping it was a sequel to Disco Elysium.

Just got to the demo tonight, and blah. The targeting doesn't quite work like it should (grabs enemies far away instead of right next to you), and as already stated, combo cancelling would be nice. I upgraded a few abilities along the way; dodging takes some time to get used to, and I'm not sure the slowdown bonus does much to help you with fights. I don't know how much more there is to the demo (I just finished the boss of the first stage).

Yeah it's not baaaaad but the good early impression does wear some as the demo continues. I was pretty on the fence...I'll see what people say about the full release.
