It had managed to get all tangled up in the netting in the shed at work and by the time we cut it down it had broken its leg, torn out its feathers and dislocated a wing, and no one else wanted to do it.

I feel for vets. Even if you know an animal has to die (and I'm sure a lot of the time, they know it doesn't have to die), it's still pretty brutal to do it with your own hands.

Wrapped it up tightly in a blanket with its head poking out, and then found a big rock and dashed its head against it. Only way I felt I could achieve quickly and painlessly.
