We had it in 5th grade and knowing what I know now I'm pissed that we never got the guy in the lion fursuit

DARE worked on me. Knowing what drugs were, what they were called, and how they affected people made it easy for me to resist using them. It kind of demystified them for me. I wasn't curious anymore; I knew they existed, I knew they tricked the body and brain into feeling 'good' despite causing harm and developing addictive habits.

Why would I ever want to put that kind of thing into my body willingly? I appreciated the thorough, detailed warnings about each individual substance and how they could fuck up your life. And over the years, I've seen drugs fuck up a lot of lives. Nothing the DARE officer told me was untrue or disingenuous.

Ditto. I lived in an area heavily infested with drugs on the streets.
But I took DAREs advice to heart and stayed away.
Im glad I did cuz Meth and Heroin really fucked up a lot of my classmates.

D- I won't do drugs

I liked the logo and I was mad when they changed the program to a more boring sanitized course.

Never got a D.A.R.E. or Gamefaqs T-shirt and I feel I deserve at least 1 of them

Hard drugs are bad. But DARE also attack Marijuana and spread propaganda that weed smokers belong in prison

Marijuana should never have been illegal in the the first place. It was banned due to racism and being seen as a threat to the tobacco industry

It's 2022 and here we are thinking anti-drug programs are uncool. In fact I've seen people argue that these programs is what got them into drugs. Edgelords goin edgelord. Stay being that rebellious badass.

The biggest problem with DARE when I went through was how hard they went after weed. They treated it as by far the biggest threat you are likely to face.

the concept wasn't stupid but its execution was just flawed

i kinda wish they'd return to schools so i don't have to deal with their representatives nagging me for donations at corner stores and restaurants

Ours had a glass display that had an example of all the drugs, it was middle school, and one kid asked the cop if he could have the case.

The program failed me, needless to say.

D.A.R.E. worked on many kids in my generation.

The vast majority of us didn't do drugs after wards.
