I have played a few walking sims including What Remains of Edith Finch, Dear Esther and Kona... so I do enjoy a good mystery!

Have you tried this game? It's only like 3 bucks on PSN.

How is Firewatch?

It was artsy, but not particularly good if you're into mysteries for the act of solving mysteries. The plot's "twists" basically sum up all of the mystery so the entire game hinges upon you getting engrossed in the world, something that just isn't particularly better than any given horror game (it uses atmosphere in a similar way, it itself isn't a horror game). Thus you are left with a game that has weak puzzles, no real story, and a world that is extremely good looking for an indie game.

Never played Firewatch.

Ethan Carter is a decent game, I really enjoyed it.

Firewatch is better, but I soured on it when it not only glitched right at the end so that a cutscene I needed to happen never did so I couldn't progress to the finale, but that it then autosaved, erasing my pre-glitch save file, and then the "I'm fucked anyway" save file corrupted so I couldn't even reload it and hope for the best.

The game itself is hardly there. But the story still hit me hard when I got to the end. Soundtrack is real good.

Sounds like it's worth the three bucks.

It's been a long time since I beat it, so my memory is fuzzy, but it's okay. The story is mostly monotone until the last hour or so iirc. Absolutely nothing scary or horror oriented goes on, and solving the puzzles with the weird "portals" and bad physics engine don't bring back pleasant memories.

I think they remastered the visuals a while ago so if it's that version, it's probably worth the $3 to you.

The last arc is a total asspull and left on a cliffhanger for a sequel that never happened, just as a heads up.

I mean, three dollars isn't a high bar for cost so you aren't wrong.

But if you want to play a game that does everything but graphics better, and I do mean *everything*, go play The Sexy Brutale.

I liked the idea they had of solving crimes with ghostly memories, or whatever it was. It was just too easy to put them in order. Easily worth 3 bucks though.
