I thought it was alright. I definitely thought that Gorr was wasted, though. You had a chance to make an incredibly compelling villain with a legitimately great actor, and you blew it.

Ragnarok had a good balance of serious and jokey moments.

this movie was just jokes, jokes and... yeah, more jokes! *sigh*

granted that there were moments that legit made me lol but plenty of them made me roll my eyes so hard they nearly reached the back of my head...

I really enjoyed the movie for what it was, even if the humor was forced at points.

The Gorr complaints are the only thing I agree with, he needed more screen time and a more fleshed out character. Other than that, I really liked him realizing it wasn't truly vengeance he wanted but life and love for his daughter.

They shouldve spent some time actually showing Gorr murdering Gods. Show us why hes so formidable, not just snippets from what amounted to news feeds.

I agree, most of the jokes fell flat and felt forced. Then it was just a constant barrage of them too.

I still think it was a good movie, and enjoyable... But they definitely tried to overkill the humor and it just didn't work like it did in Ragnarok.

Also, like stated above, Gorr felt wasted. He was the best part of the movie and it mostly ignored him. Like, it acknowledged he is an off screen problem. He really needed one or two good scenes of him just wrecking some people. As it is, him and his plot got sidelined almost entirely to make room for uninteresting characters and bad jokes. Gorr really shined in every scene he has, and would've stolen the movie if he was actually in it.

MCU has a very bad habit of wasting good villains. Gorr was incredibly under utilized in this movie to make way for the "humor". I always thought the humor and it being overly silly in Ragnarok was the worst parts about the film, but this movie showed me just how tame the third movie was regarding forced jokes and forced humors.

This is something too. I really wish it had been Gorr's motivation the entire time and everyone misunderstood him instead of an idea Thor threw out at the last second.

A great comparison between Love and Thunder and Ragnarok is the two play scenes. In Ragnarok, we get the funny play retelling Thor 2, w/ Loki's part played waaay up, because Loki was pretending to be Odin at that time. It is funny, and also gives the audience a look into how Loki perceives himself, and how he interprets historical events.

The play scene in Love and Thunder was longer, dumber, not as funny, and served 0 narrative purpose, providing no insight into any character.

I also feel like Valkyrie and Korg were underused. I get that Korg is essentially there for comedy but they neither do anything substantial to affect the plot and Korg gets a bait and switch "death" that doesn't affect anything. Valkyrie IMO should get her own series and not play second fiddle to Thor anymore.

That, or making it more clear that he was blinded by vengeance or not thinking that was possible or something just to flesh it out more. I loved the ending but felt due to the under utilization of Gorr it felt rushed/out of nowhere. I don't have a problem with the quick switch because I felt like Gorr being offered that possibility over killing all gods, he would take in a heartbeat, but again I feel like this all feels more due to his under utilization. Like had we had a few more scenes of him killing gods and seeing his emotional vengeance being fueled by the grief from his daughter would have gone along way. Even though we all know this is the case I felt it would have been more powerful to actually flesh it out.

Korg was the worst part about Love & Thunder and Valkyrie felt pointless in the film. The film would've probably been better paced if it was just Thor and Jane tbh.

It also would have given a chance to include more of Gorr

Very true, I felt that the process to make this film felt like some execs going "okay, list the top 3 things people like about Ragnarok and crank it up by ten." without going into the "whys" on the things they loved about Ragnarok that worked.
