Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says its unlikely she could ever be elected president of the United States because so many people in America hate women and would never let that happen. The socialist firebrand New York Democrat speculated about the possibilities of her launching a future White House bid in a wide-ranging cover interview with GQ magazine published Wednesday. Ocasio-Cortez said that while she tries to hold onto the belief that anything is possible, her experience in Congress has given me a front-row seat to how deeply and unconsciously, as well as consciously, so many people in this country hate women. And they hate women of color, the 32-year-old added. People ask me questions about the future. And realistically, I cant even tell you if Im going to be alive in September. And that weighs very heavily on me. And its not just the right wing. Misogyny transcends political ideology: left, right, center, the democratic socialist continued. I admit to sometimes believing that I live in a country that would never let that happen.

Elsewhere in the interview, the congresswoman spoke of the open hostility she encountered from her own Democratic Party colleagues after taking office in 2018. It was open hostility, open hostility to my presence, my existence, Ocasio-Cortez said. Since I got here, literally day one, even before day one, Ive experienced a lot of targeting diminishment from my party. And the pervasiveness of that diminishment, it was all-encompassing at times. It says a lot when so many other Western nations have had female Heads of State, but the U.S. has yet to have a female President.

And things are going to get worse, with rich Trumpeters buying up news media outlets to force the narrative to shift even more to the right.

Considering a lot of people want to force young rape victims to carry the baby to term... yeah.

Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, and she was Hillary Clinton. A more electable female would do fine.

Her biggest issue is being progressive. Her own party would be against her in the primaries and such.

Victim mentality out in full force I see. She is already pre-throwing a temper tantrum that she won't be president because she thinks people not liking her means the country hates women. Women make up just over 50% of the population. If she doesnt get elected it won't be because of "men hating all women" or whatever other nonsensical bullshit she can come up with.

She's not wrong. Almost half of this country's population see women as property and are fighting to make it so. Everyone else is just letting it happen

and a fair chunk of american woman have been brainwashed to believe god wants women to be subservient to men so they shouldnt be in a major position of power

I saw something a while back that also applied this to bosses.

Demanding male bosses are seen as ambitious and headstrong.
Demanding female bosses are seen as being on a power-trip.

She can argue it's still an uphill battle for acceptance, but acting like there's no chance simply makes no sense. Hillary only lost due to our stupid EC bullshit.

In terms of popular vote margin, she actually did quite well. The problem is that her strategy in the northern and Midwest states burned her.

I'm sure Comey had a lot to do with her loss as well. If he never made that email investigation announcement for no reason a week before the election then I think she would have won.

America hates women just as much as it hates admitting the nation fucking sucks and is an embarassment.
