Throughout both shows he's managed to connive and worm his way out of almost any situation even till the very last episode getting a hefty sentence down...but has a sudden change of heart and confesses everything? Why? Was it to exonerate Kim? Surely she can still get sued by the widow and wasn't that her biggest threat?

Or did he feel like it was his just reward for all the bad he's done? He hasn't seemed very remorseful the whole show so why at the last few minutes of the show?

Idk man didn't really like it :/

Dude realized that Kim actually followed through on turning herself in and so decided to follow in her footsteps and get her respect back. He was clearly tired of his free life anyway. His caper with the guy with the cancer practically had him intentionally trying to get caught.

I love dat in da end, he still showed he would have gotten away with it LEGALLY cause he's fucking Saul Goodman and a great lawyer

But i think in da end, he decided to end it, he was tired and just wanted to live stress free i guess

I mean it wasn't terrible I didn't expect a happy ending after all the things that have transpired but I just thought if he did have a realisation it would be over a period of time not at the later part of the final episode....feels kinda rushed

I also think some part of him wanted to boast to Kim.

shes clearly impressed he got them down to 7 years in the end.

I dunno. The ending was pretty obvious but also stuck with me. I think it was the right ending for the show

it would be interesting to take all the scenes of Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, and El Camino and reassemble them in chronological order and watch from start to finish

He decided to finally be himself.

No more faking an identity, no more conning and conniving his way out of it. He finally just shot from the hip and told everyone, including Kim, how he really felt.

I think it's perfectly liberating that after all this time, he doesn't have to pretend to be someone else to please people or hide from the law or hide from his pain and suffering. In the end he's finally his authentic self and doesn't have to answer to anyone or pretend to be someone else.

The whole series Gene was living a completely empty life. In the finale Jimmy decides that life in jail while still having Kim is better than being free but without her.

Also the series as a whole is just a tragic love story. I think it was a great way to end it.

I thought it was fine, but I also would have been happy with him just taking the 7 years and mint chocolate chip ice cream while being so smug about it.

He knows he would wind up in prison for life eventually because he cant stop himself. So he just got it out of the way and got Kims respect back.
