I also purchased Curse of the Dead Gods and The Binding of Issac, but I havent gotten too deep into those. Im looking to purchase either one for the Switch.

Darkest Dungeon is good but it's nothing like any of those games. It's all menu based combat and strategizing. I'd look up a video about if first before you buy it. It's not for everyone.

I like Dead Cells alot. Never beat it though.

Dead Cells is way more similar to Hades than Darkest Dungeon is, but it's still radically different. Also, personally, level 1 difficulty is a fun challenge, everything after that is kinda bullshit.

Darkest Dungeon: Ancestral Edition was priced under $14 not too long ago on the Switch.

$6 currently for PS4.

Have you considered Cult of the Lamb?

Seems closest to your request.

This. As someone who loves Hades, I wasn't interested at all in Darkest Dungeon. It's more of an extremely difficult turn-based strategy game than a roguelike.

Calling DD a roguelite is a stretch. It has more in common with XCOM.
DC is definitely a roguelite and much more pleasant with a controller than Hades is.

Binding of Isaac might have the most replay value of the games you mentioned, but after all the post-post-post game DLC it might be intimidating for a newcomer.

I've never played Dead Cells but I've TRIED so hard to like DD and I've gotten frustrated so many times. The game trolls you, I got my ass handed to me by a miniboss that randomly spawns if you let your torch get too low.. It killed my A team so I just rage quit and I haven't touched the game since.

DD is like the slowest game of all time. Every button input results in a pause and then a slow af animation. It's like playing on a psone with a damaged disc drive. Only instead of turning it over to fix it, you fall asleep waiting for your actions to register. Game deliberately wastes your time

Yeah I never understood why it was labeled a Roguelike/lite. I literally played the same playthrough for 30+hours

Anyone looking to try out Darkest Dungeon should honestly just pick Radiant mode, its does NOT actually make the enemies/combat easier, it just requires you to grind less for materials in order to upgrade your town .

Also if anyone is looking for more Roguelites should give these a try:
S:
Binding of Isaac Rebirth
Slay the Spire
Synthetik
Faster Than Light
Hades
Dont Starve

A:
Atomicrops
One Step from Eden
Into the Breach
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Original Binding of Isaac

B:
Enter the Gungeon
Nuclear Throne
Loop Hero
Rogue Legacy
Vampire Survivors
Ratropolis
Ring of Pain

I can understand why. From what I remember of the little I played of it, the basic framework is the same as Hades.

It would be VERY different if they forced you to run through all four stages like Hades does but you can replay the same stage over and over and this allows you to easily grind out powerful heroes and avoid any deaths.

How very boring, theres SO many good Roguelikes/Roguelites that bring so many different things to the table.
Then if we were talking Indie games in general and not just roguelikes/lites, then that opens a huge new venue of games.

Have you looked at Eldest Souls by any chance?

Currently $10 on Xbox.

It was also recently that price on Switch as well.

I liked Dead Cells about as much as Hades. The gameplay is just so smooth and quick.
