You have more access to people with poor reading skills. You benefit by not limiting yourself.

I don't know what's causing it but in the past few decades, people have become absolute trash at basic shit like spelling, punctuation and grammar. Even on scripted TV shows, characters will say "____ and I" in cases where it should be "____ and me." It's annoying as fuck. Even the actors must be ignorant. Correcting that kind of bullshit would be literally the first thing I would do when reading a script as an actor lol.

and if it would be in character for them not to know the proper grammar?

also odd you choose _ and I when thats the one people tend to fuck up wayyyyyy more than _ and me.

in most case, no it would not be in character

In elementary school, they teach never to say "me and ____" but people these days overcorrect by using "___ and I" in every case instead of thinking about how they would say it without the added person. If you wouldn't say "That seems good for I," you wouldn't say "That seems good for ____ and I." That's what people are fucking up constantly, and it's fairly recent. Same with other shit like "should of" etc. (though that is only in text format). I've poked fun at people for doing that here and sometimes they don't even understand what I'm poking fun at and are like "I don't get it." People saying "me and ___" doesn't really bother me because that's like they never learned how to speak. Having learned how to speak and still fucking it up is more annoying to me.

I question if I never had good reading comprehension and I just didn't realize it until I was older. Many people don't realize things until they become self conscious. Im fine with it though. I make it up other places. Just please don't press me on those other places.

There's a middle ground between writing a resume and just not using grammar and punctuation.

German grammar as well (here in Switzerland). In our company, many people from Gen Z don't know how to formally write a mail or letter. Some of them have trouble using a computer or office programs (word, excel).

Feels like there's been a notable hit in recent years. Used to think gatekeeping was shit, but now I think it can be useful. Look at /a/ as an example. Before gen z, it was a cesspool of degeneracy. Now, it's a cesspool of degeneracy, but half the threads are full of posts that make no fucking sense.

Social media hasn't destroyed reading comprehension, but it has let extremist whackos find a voice, spread disinformation and hate.

It also leads to everyone- even well intentioned people - to jump to wild conclusions.

There was something fun about finding a forum based on one of your niche interests and interacting with like-minded people, now people just flock to subreddits typically.

I appreciate how concise and easily accessible everything online is now but I still miss the 'old school' Internet days
