Training, honestly. Dog needs to learn the command to stop barking like that, enough persistence and it will end.

15 minutes a day, find a treat that your dog goes nuts for. Cut it into tiny pieces, if it's a hot dog, like fingernail sized, just a taste.

Start easy with sit, bring the treat over the dogs head until the dog sits naturally, say "good sit" and give it the treat, repeat for a few days. The dog is gonna learn that "good" followed by a command means "I get my favorite treat"

Keep the negative command to a simple "No" and don't use anything else, short and sweet. "No" associated with a command will teach the dog they aren't doing what you want. With that said, once your dog learns no, start to teach your dog how to speak. It generally takes you just holding the treat in front of the dog until it gets frustrated and barks, continue to say firmly "Speak" until the dog finally barks, then again, give the small treat, repeat for a few days.

Now that your dog knows "Speak" and "No", this is when you work on the quiet, no barking part. When the dog begins barking, firmly state "No Speak, Quiet!" until the dog doesn't bark for a few seconds. Offer the reward, with all of this, it's continued persistence. Eventually you can drop the "No Speak" and "Quiet" by itself will begin to work just fine.

Make sure the dog is attentive during training, hold the treat up near your eyes and maintain eye contact, if the dog is looking away, disinterested, try training later, they aren't in the mood. It happens and it's fine. The most important thing is every day, working on commands, rewarding the dog and staying positive. A few months and it will take a simple "Quiet" walking your dog and the dog will stop immediately.

Bark at your dog and dogs you encounter as you walk to establish dominance.

i do that. doesn't happen often enough to be annoying.
school is starting soon it's going to suck. (my dog likes to go for bathroom breaks when kids go to school) before covid it wouldn't be a problem.
