I should note I was playing on the PlayStation 3. I should also note I was comparing it to classic God of War games and Devil May Cry games.

For some reason, it didn't strike me as fun. Should I give it another go in 2022? Maybe the newer version is more polished...

I would suggest giving the series another go. It's a fun action closer to Devil may Cry rather than God of awar. So if you like the former then Bayonetta should be up your alley.

You should play the PC/Switch version if you can. PS3 was a pretty bad port. Comparing it to Devil May Cry is fair cause it's made by the same creator and there's obvious similar themes to it.

The PS3 port was notoriously bad.

Series is fantastic and comparable to Devil May Cry.

I thought it looked stupid until I actually played it. The game has just enough self-awareness to make the ridiculousness of it work, and the combat is excellent

I should get the Vanquish bundle with Bayonetta.
