She shouldn't have to. You shouldn't judge someone if you have such a shallow understanding of them that you can't be sure if they are or not without them directly telling you. She should prove who she is through her actions. And being around her literal family isn't an action that proves anything.

lets take a step back.

this is not about who she voted for or who she will vote for.

this is about a group of people who make a politician their entire personality. Give me a name, any name of any person. Say Shigeru Miyamoto, or Nelson Mandela or the pope, anyone.

if you meet someone who has made that one person their entire personality that is incredibly lame and says a lot about them. Imagine someone having Mandela themed parties, wearing Mandela shirts, a Mandela bumper sticker on their car, shilling in CE and Twitter about Mandela, how sad would that be?

Magas are like that, only that instead of a do gooder like Mandela or at least someone lovable like shiggy their idol is a guy who hates minorities and tried to change the demographics to the way they were in the 50s and who incited an insurrection, and they worship him because of that.

so yes, judging them for making such a person their everything is kind of justified

They are the "family values" party. I don't really understand what you say when you talk either because you always refer it back to your own actions, which these issues just go beyond how they relate to any individual family. The idea that your life should be in service to a family unit is a conservative ideal, and they very much want to base the society on the ideal that everyone has a certain kind of family. I'm just saying in some sense, being politically aligned with your family's political views is a conservative value, while voting for your own interests as an individual is a liberal value.

Im refering back to myself because there's no context in this topic to the actual subject. Im not one for making assumptions and then pretending they're the reality to base the rest the conversation around. So, there's nothing productive to come from a conversation with zero real context.

You end up just doing what Mr. Anderson is doing and making up the context and arguing against the perception you yourself just created on the spot. I'd rather add the context from my real life to fill the absence of context of the person in question.

m refering back to myself because there's no context in this topic to the actual subject. Im not one for making assumptions and then pretending they're the reality to base the rest the conversation around. So, there's nothing productive to come from a conversation with zero real context.

i don't think general 'assumptions' about society are a bad thing, and people are making all kind of more particular assumptions anyway. the speculation i am engaging in is not baseless because we are literally talking about politics and families. if you want to relate it back to your life specifically that is fine with me (i'm not trying to imply you shouldn't) but you also have to be okay with me relating it back to more general topics. our conversation started as more personal i guess but then i changed my post to just relate to society at large than a specific experience. i don't want you to think my beliefs are an attack on your individual life, which it feels to me how you feel about my posts... i guess the conversation did start that way but then i shifted my attention to something more removed for personal experience.

also tbf to me, when i posted my initial post about family vs society being a liberal and conservative values disagreement, i was not even responding to you at that point
