Don't know if they can overcome the sheer brand gap created by the failure of the One but it'll definitely be much closer.

They have a chance to overtake sony if they start really knocking it out of the park with those xbox/PC exclusives from all those third parties they bought recently. They can't do the scalebound or fables legends thing where they lose faith and cancel the games before it they get a chance to release....it has to actually come out and be good....create some more franchises than the standard shooter and forza games they normally relied on.

Microsoft has traditionally had a rough time in certain countries with xbox sales, so if they take this sony price hike moment and turn it into their version of the infamous PS4 game sharing diss (alongside being serious about investing in all those companies with some good genre diversity instead of just the shooters and forza thing) they do have a chance of gaining ground in some of these countries (probably won't ever make much of a dent in japan though. Nintendo and mobile got a stronghold there despite the series s making some ok sales there for a few months).

Sony would also have to keep making some bone-headed decisions to the point that not even the playstation exclusives that normally works well for them would make that much of a difference compared to their damaged image. (Right now sony is playing is safe by avoiding including NA in that price hike thing, but regardless this news is going to piss some people off everywhere else).

Doubt it. Zero interest in PlayStation or Xbox. I can play almost all of their games on my PC.

Nintendo still has some worthwhile games, though.
