https://amp.kentucky.com/opinion/op-ed/article264568066.htm In the face of overwhelming tragedy, Kentuckians rallied together to help provide food, cleaning supplies and elbow grease to assist the victims of flooding in eastern Kentucky. The photos and videos of uprooted trees, homes, cars and trucks, and the knowledge that at least 39 people lost their lives in the flooding are shocking and truly sad. What has not been discussed is how the concentration of buildings, including houses, mobile homes, businesses, and schools along the banks of the regions creeks and rivers contributed to the widespread suffering. Why do so many people choose to live, work, and go to school in the floodplains? Because they have been forced to do so over the past 120 years by concentrated corporate ownership of the high ground. Sad, but unsurprising. I had no idea about this before reading the article. --- https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/1531-food-delivery-services-general ... Copied to Clipboard!

The people here are too poor to actually own anything, unfortunately. A lot of the businesses in my area are even owned by a single person, Don Childers, who is unequivocal piece of garbage. My dad used to deliver furniture, and on one of the times he delivered him something, Don said "when I'm done here, everyone will be begging me to leave". --- Crown of creation, creation of shame. https://imgur.com/o21DN7r ... Just wait till the effects of climate change start becoming more and more apparent. The rich will buy up the land that's safe to live in and everyone else will die in the wasteland. As to this specific case, it's Kentucky. Go home, get your guns, take back your land from the corporations. Your ancestors took up arms for the right to unionize, you can do it to not die in floods. --- Furthermore, The GOP is a Fascist Organization and must be destroyed ... Copied to Clipboard!

CE_gonna_CE posted... GeezI'm pretty pro-environment, but it's still worth noting that in areas as poor as the one I live in, the loss of coal mining is particularly devastating. The rich are mostly uninterested in investing here at all aside from stripping the natural resources away, and as a consequence, the poverty is worse than ever. Mining jobs were some of the few non minimum wage jobs here that actually paid decently, so without them... the area doesn't really have any future. A lot of the people will never recover from flood damage because there's simply no money for it. --- Crown of creation, creation of shame. https://imgur.com/o21DN7r ... Copied to Clipboard!
