Im more of a manga reader, dont watch too much anime. Might be 11-30, on the lower end, but I could see it being between 1-10 as well.

I have watched maybe 3 anime movies in my life.
TV aired anime series that I watched as a kid, but none of it was Dragon Ball or Pokemon. It was Moomin (japanese-animated), an adaptation of Pinocchio, and a duck and his mole friendI don't know the name of that one.
Honestly, anime or manga has never really appealed to me.
EDIT: Aside for the movies, this was more than ten years ago.

Anyhow, since Alfred J. Kwak had the same art style as the Moomin series, I simply assumed it was Japanese. Fascinating that it's Dutch. Was it a trend in the 1990s for Japanese studios to animate European stories?

None. I should get around to Netflix's Castlevania though.

Alfred J Kwak was a strange cooperation between Belgium, Dutch, Germany, Spain and Japan.
Many old cartoons are animated in Japan or Asia simply because it was cheaper.
Japan also made a Moomin cartoon in the 70s.
