Here are my cast rankings for early seasons. Characters that make it passed the first Governor fight get marked as "Sea 1" or "Sea 2" for when they debut. So don't worry, Carol's rating will go up significantly.

Early season best survivors in order:
Glen - 90 overall. And he only gets better.
Daryl - 83 is a strong first showing.
Rick - 72, Rick grows into his roll fast once he starts using melee weapons.
Shane - 69, nice.
Merle - 68, most surprising one for me.

DrizztLink posted...
Shane is the second smallest liability?

Shane?

Excellent point.

So general liability, I am thinking of them in a random group. Are they likely to get themselves and everyone else killed? If so, 1. Are they likely to do things to help their group survive in that specific situation? If they are in a no-win situation, are they able to find the least bad solution? If so, 10/10.

Shane and Rick obviously have personality clashes. Shane was an asshole but he kept Lori and Carl safe during probably the deadliest part of the apocalypse. He much quicker read what the world was than Rick. I bet the survivors would have faired better with Shane at the helm during The Governor than Rick.

There are the ratings through S8 + S9 Judith. Incidentally S9 Judith = S8 Carl. Another surprise is Rosita S8 = Rick S4. But her sexiness gives her huge boosts in x-factor, group cohesion, and charisma.

Shane = Insane Morgan. I think that is fitting those scores are the same.

Jerry and Ezekial are the same. And Shiva is higher than both.

Oh and the Rick Condition on my scoring, it seemed to me they wanted us to be viewing him as getting skinnier throughout the show and while he is grizzled and tough as shit, he is a shell of who he was when he was shot.

S9 E11 - Bounty

Title reference - I'd guess about Ezekial's mission to get a projector bulb? Don't think it was a direct quote.

Flashback, Carol has mid length hair. Nice. They got the Charter that Michonne had been writing. Has a spot for Alexandria, Hilltop, Oceanside, The Kingdom. Was halfway hoping they found a new group that hadn't been spoken about that would show up on it.

Currently, a herd of elk is near and a hoard of zombies isn't far. So they kill elk. Then they go look for a movie projector bulb. Honestly, not a bad idea. Kids will flip their shit.

At Hilltop, Daryl talks to alpha. Alpha produces Alden and Luke. 2 for 1. A whisperer has a baby that's crying. It's attracting attention so the whisperer puts the baby on the ground and leaves it. Connie (i think she's the deaf one)takes the baby and hides in the corn. Daryl gives a save. Baby turned over to Grace Under Fire and her husband Earl.

Henry tries to free Lydia, but Enid gets them to give her up. Henry isn't happy. Daryl isn't happy. Connie isn't happy. But they do it. Alden and Enid presumably bang. Luke presumably doesn't.

Henry leaves to get Lydia. Daryl leaves to get Henry. Connie leaves with Daryl.

They get the bulb and a poster box to display the charter.

6/10. Just slow. Not bad, just slow. As you can tell, not much really happened.

S9 E12 - Guardians

Title reference - The skin walkers call zombies guardians.

Alpha questions Lydia. Lydia only talks about Hilltop, doesn't betray The Kingdom/ Henry.
Michonne is pissed at the "counsel" for the radio that got Eugene injured and Rosita nearly dead. There is some push back about Michonne being a dictator, though not in those words. Michonne isn't in charge but can veto anything.

Henry is watching the whisperers and is quickly caught. Alpha knows Lydia left something out, why else is Henry here? Lydia continues to protect Henry.

Michonne asks Negan why he came back. He claims its to help her figure stuff out, leader to former leader. That Alexandria is on the precipice.

Connie and Daryl are close on teh trail and realize Henry's been captured.

Alpha is confronted by 2 whisperers about why the rules don't apply to her / her kid. She cuts the woman's heads off with a garrote which seems super impossible for someone her size / strength to do as easily as she did. Stabs the other or something. Those two are left for walkers.

Michonne asks Judith why she talks to Negan. He listens, he's not a monster, and that people can change. Judith is sent to her room for seeing the best in people.

Eugene tells Gabriel that Rosita is super hot and he's got to lock that shit down even though he aint the babby daddy.

michonne tells Aaron thanks for having her back but she will let the counsel vote on going to the fair. the kingdom has to be desperate for Carol to ask twice. Moments later, we see carts being loaded with food.

Alpha is going to make Lydia kill Henry. Suddenly walkers show up and start eating unprepared whisperers. This seems really lame to me. They should know walkers better than anyone. But Connie and Daryl are able to lead walkers to the camp, wearing dead masks, save henry, who takes lydia with them.

8/10. I almost knocked it down to a 6 because of how stupid the Whisperers are to get caught with their pants down. They did react quickly, putting on masks, and just joining the hoard. And this was an ambush by Daryl. But still, I expected better of them. If it is this easy to die by them, I don't see why anyone would still do this. I hope Alexandria is fully armed with rifles and unlimited ammo thanks to Eugene. A contingent of whisperers and walkers try to fuck with them on the way to the fair and they just all pull automatic rifles out from their ponchos and kill everything in 10 seconds.

S9 E13 - Chokepoint

Title reference - Daryl & co are setting up a chokepoint to kill the skin walkers.

Daryl & co escaped the whisperers, won't go to hilltop, will save Lydia.

At the kingdom, jerry has been jumped. King learns about this, they meet the highwaymen. Make a deal with them, watch a movie in exchange for protecting the roads.

Tara's group is on the road.

Daryl is going to use an abandon building as a chokepoint to kill the skin walkers.

Henry and Lydia kiss.

Zombie hoard approaches Tara's group and they fight. Things are looking a little bad when then Highwaymen show up.

Daryl & co fight the skinwalkers. Most are killed relatively easily. Beta somehow survives like a 30 foot fall straight onto his back on top of metal.

Daryl & co are going to Alexandria.

8/10. Pretty good episode. Hopefully the Highwaymen aren't back stabbers like the trash people. Wonder if we will see oceanside at the Fair.

S9 E14 - Scars

Title reference - I don't think I mentioned it earlier this season, but both Michonne and Daryl have x-shaped scars. This episodes shows how that happened.

Pretty much a stand alone episode

Daryl & co. are patched up at alexandria.

We get a flash back of after Rick's explosion and Michonne trying to find him. She finds his python (gun, not dick).

Flash back we meet Joselyn, a friend of Michonnes, presumably like from college or something. Maybe high school. Joselyn only has kids around. She ends up not being nice. trying to kidnap all the alexandria kids. Michonne had to kill her and a bunch of kids. And Judith remembers. This is why Michonne doesn't let strangers into Alexandria anymore.

Other times, she is trying to find Judith. Judith is out killing zombies. Michonne has to save her. But Michonne changes her mind about letting people in or some shit so she and Judith take a car-t (thats a cart made out of a car) to The Kingdom. Judith will get to see a movie!

2 skin walkers find The Kingdom and decide they have to tell alpha.

7/10. Good to know why Michonne had this stance and that it is seemingly gone now.

S9 E15 - The Calm Before

Title reference - guessing that things were appearing to go well and then the shit hit the fan.

Newbies to hilltop are leaving for the fair. Get ambushed and the woman gets skinned by Alpha who then wears herself a nice edgar suit and infiltrates the fair.

The King gives a speech. Michonne shows up with Henry. Everyone signs the charter and discuss mutual defense pact, an attack on one is an attack on all.

A group sent to Hilltop to protect it in case skin walkers attack.

Alpha shows up at the fair. Talks to Ezekial. Talks to Lydia. Her mask is way too real.

The group that left to protect hilltop split up (ugh so stupid) because they found the camp of the dead woman. daryl, michonne, carol, yumiko get surrounded. kill the walkers. surrnounded by skin walkers. beta tells them to drop the weapons. they comply. alpha takes Daryl to a cliff. 10s of thousands of zombies in a valley. told to stay on the other side of the border they marked. they go to the border, find Siddiq tied up. Then see on the pikes the other people in teh group plus a few others. like Tara is there, Enid is there, Henry is there, Addy, one of teh stupid kids, the highway men and a few others.

Siddiq is left alive to tell teh story so he does. He tells the story about heroes who fought to the end.

Lydia leaves her H coin on Henry's grave.

9/10.

Honestly surprised they could still be that unexpected. I didn't expect to see Tara die. Hilltop is without leadership. And her family lineage is gone. No kids, nothing.

Henry's family is gone. I was expecting both him and his brother to survive when first introduced.

Brett Butler's character died, so now her husband and adopted baby. Henry is a small blow to Earl, too. At least Alden is still around.

Enid was unexpected, again end of lineage. Like how did her, tara and the kids get grabbed? Was that all alpha doing some sort of pied piper routine?

Are any of the highway men remaining? I liked them, I wanted them to be a part of things.

Poor Carol. This is why you don't look after kids.

The general belief is that Alpha wasn't alone at The Kingdom, other Whisperers were there it just focused on Alpha.

The Fair worked in their favor, that plus the communities had been separated for years so they didn't know who was an actual member and who wasn't.

in the comic rosita who was 9 months pregnant at the time was one of the people alpha killed and put the head on a pike.
it counts as 2 kills for alpha cause comic rosita was about to have a baby any day now.

also remember olivia?
somewhat heavy set woman from alexandria who got shot?
yeah comic olivia never got shot and being killed here by alpha with her head put on a pike was her ultimate comic fate

but i guess tara and enid took their places in the show
tara and enid do not have comic counterparts

S9 E16 - The Storm

Title reference - There is a snow storm and combines with previous episode title.

I think this is the first winter episode yet. I remember breath turning frosty and after the farm it was maybe early spring.

The Kingdom is worn down and can't be used anymore. The boiler room is gone, the buildings keep catching on fire, and it seems like they've had more than their fair share of blights.

So most go to Hilltop, some go to Alexandria after hilltop.

Most of the episode is walking and deciding should they cross Alpha's territory? They do.

Side story, due to the snow Negan is let out, there are only a few large areas with fireplaces running right now. The first place negan is nearly has a chimney fire before they go to another area. they walk using a rope ala little house on the prairie. judith is supposed to watch after dog but she hasn't been doing a great job. she hears dog bark and leaves the line. Negan runs after her and saves her.

Group makes it to Hilltop no biggie. Group makes it to alexandria no biggie. Michonne thanks Negan for saving Judith. Carol and Ezekial are seemingly broken up. For shame, Carol. Zeke is good for her. He's not a milquetoast pussy like Tobin, not an abuser like Ed, just a decent dude with a flair for drama.

Ends with Alpha's group. She's been away. She has Beta flagellate her.

7/10. First winter episode gets a bit of a pass. Actual episode nearly nothing happened except people walking.

S10 E1 - Lines We Cross

Title reference - The survivors cross the border to the whisperers.

Starts with all communities doing a joint fighting exercise. Its shields, spears, swords, arrows, and sling shots. honestly, it looks like kind of a shit fighting style for the enemy they are coming up against. But they easily dispose of walkers.

Kids are playing and RJ finds a walker mask so Judith shows it to adults.

The news of the walker skin is passed on to Alexandria and Hilltop. Because of this they search for signs of anything. They find a camp with a bunch of people killed and a walker skin. They feel confident that the whisperers have been on their side.

A Soviet satellite crashes to earth. This causes Eugene to go running to the radio about it to Michonne. He is able to somehow make it from Alexandria to Ocean Side seemingly in moments and help fight the fire that causes and try to retrieve technology from the satellite. Down side to this is the satellite landed on Alpha's side of the border.

Carol is a fisherman now and lives on a boat. She ignores Ezekial when he visits. Cold. She wants her and Daryl to go on the road together to new mexico to get friendship bracelets. daryl wants her to stay and not live on a boat. daryl is learning sign language. D&C play whos the better zombie killer for a bit. then shoot a deer. but it goes on the other side of the line. daryl doesn't push it, considers the deer gone once it crosses. i liked this. from daryl getting Glen killed, this is natural growth.

kelly is losing her hearing and connie tells her its alright being deaf is a super power. seems like she wants to take teh D in Daryl. hope it happens, daryl needs to get laid.

siddiq has PTSD from the fair massacre. Rosita named her kid Coco... Eugene charts everything about the baby. Gabriel is a do nothing except gossip on the radio. Rosita is doing kick boxing to get into super sexy shape again.

daryl and carol sneak off after fighting the fire. daryl shows her the empty ravine, asks if she really wants to go, she says yes. he says he needs her to stay. Daryl walks away, Carol stays looking over the ravine where Alpha shows the 10k+ zombies. Alpha walks out on the other side of the ravine. Alpha and Carol mean mug at each other. I was under the impression where Carol is standing is part of Alpha's territory. Did this mean they got caught just now? I'm not exactly sure.

9/10. Surprisingly a fun little episode. They had like 5 or 6 title cards with each being part of the story but also a bit self contained? Good ep.

S10 E2 - We are the end of the world
Title reference - Taken from Beta quote.

Episode goes back and forth between Alpha, Lydia, and Beta shortly after AL escaped the bunker. Alpha is just starting to really figure out her philosophy and how to survive and stuff. Like they are using the guts trick to start. And Alpha is already growly and doing pretty good shuffling. But no mask yet.

And then it taking us to maybe a day or two before satellite event in last episode.

In the past Lydia watches a lady get eaten in front of her and screams and Alpha has to kill the zombies and blow her cover. They barely escape into a mental hospital and meet Beta wearing a bag over his face with eyes and mouth punched out. Its tense at first. Alpha and Beta slowly start to bond. Alpha says like they need no names but she's "A", a letter, not a name, and he's "A". I dunno. It was pretty lame. Lydia is a little scaredy cat but she knows it. So she hardens her self up and drenches herself in guts to go play with zombies. They kill Beta's zombie friend but somehow cool him down. Alpha cuts off the face of zombie friend and gives it to Beta as, presumably the mask he still wears today. By the end of the episode her bullshitting with Beta kind of solidifies their views on the world and what the whisperers will be or some shit.

Present day, there is a small side story about the lady that had to leave her baby behind to be eaten by zombies. she was zoning out. her sister told her to nut up. she says she'll nut up. alpha tells her to nut up and she acts all nutted up. When it comes time to actually nut up though, she attacks alpha. So her sister has to throw her off alpha and she's eaten. Now sister is named Gamma.

Alpha and Beta go face and face holding hands and chant their mantra. She then like zones off and walks away to the cliff and sees Carol on the other side of the canyon. Casus belli!

6/10. I was torn at a 6 or 7. Pros, I like Beta. Cons, I don't care for Alpha to be explained any more. The time spent on the whisperers internal conflicts isn't what I want to see, I want to understand better how they are doing this. How can maybe 200 people control a horde of maybe.. 10k? 20k? 50k? Hard to estimate that size. In this episode it took what, 4 or 5 whispers to move 25 zombies or something? 200 at 10k would be 50 zombies a piece. I could get an argument that a horde of a certain size kind of keeps itself together, but on the other hand, that means it would be hard to get it to move, one would think.

I hope Lydia strangles Alpha to death and Beta takes over and makes a new deal.

S10 E3 - Ghosts
Title reference - Daryl tells a ghost story and Carol is seeing ghosts.

Best episode in a long time IMO.

Wave after wave of undead are coming to Alexandria. Everyone is certain it is Alpha doing this. Except Eugene, he thinks it may be that the Satellite attracted every zombie in miles.4

They fight for a couple of days straight, no one getting any sleep. Get so desperate Negan is sent outside the gates to fight with Aaron.

Gamma arrives at the gates and says Alpha wants to meet at the north border. Says the walkers aren't theirs so they can't call them off.

Town hall discussion about what to do. Highwaymen are still there and they want justice! Nice. A lot agree but no one has a plan to take out tens of thousands of walkers.

End up going to meet. Good dozen people including Michonne, Daryl, Carol. Carol has a gun she doesn't put down when they were supposed to be unarmed. Alpha says 3 times they crossed the border and names them correctly. Says the borders have changed and takes the hunting ground or ground needed to access the hunting ground. Alpha wants Carol to fear her so Carol tries to shoot Alpha but Daryl stops her.

Meanwhile Aaron and Negan are fighting walkers. Negan is only allowed to use a broom stick even though there is a conveniently located crowbar nearby. Aaron has a mace on his hand now, BTW. They fight, broom stick isn't enough, Negan uses crowbar, Aaron gets in his face, they talk about each others dead loves, Negan tells Aaron last second behind you, Aaron gets i think it was hogweed in his eyes causing temporary blindness? Negan ends up saving Aaron after playing hide and seek.

Carol is hallucinating... or is she? Well she is, but is everything a hallucination? In the school they hunker down in the clock is missing hands. In her later dream her watch is missing hands. She hallucinates a home ec book with her, Sophia, Henry, Sam (? why? fuck that kid), Lizzie (boo) and Mika on the cover. She is popping pills like a trucker. Daryl tells her a story. Only that was a hallucination. Seemingly a hallucination Carol steps in a trap and is hung by a snare and zombies are coming and she kills them, shoots i think that was gamma, cuts herself loose and then the alarm goes off.

Carol is rushed into Sadiq's office for treatment (glass in her arm). Sadiq has a flashback and can't do it, Dante takes over. Carol is saved. Sadiq is told he is not alright by Dante. Later they share a drink and Dante shares a bit of his story.

Eugene and Rosita are kind of done as friends maybe? Eugene says he was out there to protect her, Rosita says she doesn't need his protecting, she taught him how to fight, that they will never happen and he needs to understand. She feels bad. Eugene finally gets it. Then gets it that only reason he was ever friends with her was in hopes of going from friend zoned to bone zone.

Carol hallucinates more. Then wakes up. but then later it shows the dead zombies where carol fought and gamma with a gut wound, dead, reanimating with her mask on. That could cause some interesting chaos.

10/10. Just a fun episode overall.

S10 E4 - Silence the Whisperers
Title reference - There is a lot of graffiti in Alexandria that says "Silence the Whispers". I didn't see any that said "Silence the Whisperers". Not sure it matters.

Life as usual in Alexandria. Lesbian sex in Hilltop. A tree falls. 9 are stuck. Rescue mission. The fence hasn't fallen yet but they need to have people on the outside killing to stop zombies from pushing the fence. Michonne, Judith, Eugene are on the road to Hilltop. They spot Ezekial and Michonne goes to talk to him. He kisses her and apologizes for doing so. They talk. Zeke's a mess. They catch up to the carriage and get to Hilltop just as the wall collapses. They lead the defenses and Judith is a mini samurai.

Lydia is treated like shit. Negan treats her nice. Lydia guts a squirrel to gross out her tormenters. They attack her. Negan to the rescue! But Negan is too strong and kills by accident. 2 attackers blame Lydia and Negan.

Michonne tells Daryl he's her proxy and that they have to keep Lydia safe. Counsel is tied 3-3 and Gabriel wants the night to vote. Negan escapes.

Ocean City calls Hilltop. They are being observed and possibly attacked soon. Luke is going with cuz he's horny.

Lydia decides she feels better locked up and locks herself in Negan's cell.

8/10. I don't like Zeke being this pathetic. Hopefully he really is out of it.

S10 E5 - What It Always Is
Title reference - Quote from lady Negan saved.

Kelly somehow incapacitates a wild hog with a sling shot. Then deafness happens and she runs and hides and almost gets eaten.
Negan is on the loose and a kid Brandon is helping him. He's heard all kinds of shit. He wants to restart the saviors. Negan plays a long a bit, saves a kid and mom, goes to get firewood, brandon killed the kid and mom after being told to leave. Negan then goes fights whisperers and gets captured at the very end.

daryl, connie, magna try to find kelly. finally succeed. and turns out Magna has been stealing supplies. Bitch.

Ezekial has thyroid cancer. Boooo.

Aaron catches Gamma killing walkers in the river and gutting them destroying the water source. Gives her a bandage.

Yumiko and Magna are no longer banging.

7/10. Still a decent enough episode.

S10 E6 - Bonds
Title reference - Not sure. Don't think it was a quote.

Carol and Daryl leave to "look for negan" but really carol was wanting to spy on the whisperers and figure out where they are grouped up to take out the horde. they find them, follow them at night over the border, carol abducts one, claiming she was caught. Daryl does a quick guts trick in the midst of the shit.

Negan is proving himself to Alpha and Beta. He digs holes, skins walkers, kills pigs, cooks pigs, gets beat up, kills a bunch of walkers, then kneels to Alpha. Seemingly he's in.

Everyone is sick in Alexandra. Well, not everyone but pretty much. Might be the walker guts infested water? But I would think they are drinking from a well, not the river. Could be another zombie flu like season 4? The doctors are ok, though Sadiq still has crazy PTSD.

Eugene found an outside person on the radio. Won't say where they are from, but someone is out there. I'll laugh if it is just someone from Ocean City or something.

7/10 Nothing wrong with this episode, a bit filler-ish. Eugene talking to someone is potentially big. Can ask some probing questions like if they've ever met a woman named Georgie. If not they might have information they could find useful.

Honestly i quit after the Whisperers. The cast isnt as strong as the original, the stakes are so low, and it feels like they are just making stuff up.

S10 E7 - Open your eyes

Title reference - What the whisperers tell Sadiq in his flash backs.

This was a snoozer. Sadiq keeps having flash backs. Spends some time with Rosita. Realizes somethings funky with the water. And turns out Dante was a whisperer infiltrator and he kills Sadiq. WTF?

Lydia is used by Carol and gets upset so she leaves. Shes on her own side now.

Carol's character is going shit places this season. Boo.

Aaron and Gamma meet a few times. Gamma is trying to get info out of Aaron. He doesn't care. He's trying to be real. Last time they meet Gamma grabs him and puts a knife to him when Lydia steps out and Gamma WTFs out of there.

4/10. Not offensively bad but it didn't do anything really.
