By the time I've finished my sentence they've already sent me 3 messages in a row and it would be faster for me if I just straight up call the other person rather than play catch up in texting.

Anyone else noticed this/have similar problem?

Well when I was still in highschool...
I literally had a computer class where all I did was type on a computer and practice "how fast we can type"...

I would assume it's because of something like that many people my age or younger are capable of texting fast...

Or perhaps they're just used to typing fast on a virtual keyboard

You can type by swiping the keyboard around

Oh I school them on typing traditionally on an actual keyboard, their typing skills there are barely better than using one finger at a time for each letter, like 10 words per minute maybe. Its like they have all the knowhow for phones but not anything for PCs

RuneScape taught me how to type fast on a keyboard

I never had a "sink or swim" experience to teach me how to type fast on a phone screen

I'm horrible at typing on a phone or tablet and I'm a millennial.

I suck shit at typing on a keyboard.

The future is now, old man.

I still make constant errors on touch screen typing.

I'm fine with keyboards. But I suck with phone screen typing.

Them young kids and their two thumb texting madness.

The next generation is exposed to new technology at a younger age than older people and become more naturally acclimated to it.

I used to be able to text when my phone was in my pocket with T9. I make more mistakes on touchscreen now then I did blindly. Hate touch screen keyboards. Wish the didn't stop making flagship phones without one.

Personally for me, I just use a bluetooth keyboard especially if I'm using my Samsung Tab A7 10'.

Mouse and keyboard is an amazing experience on it. I rarely ever have to touch the screen as the keyboard shortcuts makes things fairly accessible and swift

I have no idea. I am 35 and I hardly ever use a cellphone. So I have no idea how they do.

word suggestions. Its like with google search if you only typed in the first 4 letters and let google suggest the rest

I've always been garbage at typing on a touchscreen. I just use swipe typing instead.

Millennials arent even that young. Im a Millennial and Im 36.

Physical keyboards were great. But they took up half the size of the phone

I can type super fast, but I'm an average texter at best.

I just wish they could suddenly appear and then magically disappear, like only appear when we need to type and then disappear when we're watching a video

You can just use the built in text to speech and "type" extra fast.

Sure the kids can type fast, but they can't spell any of the words they type. Auto correct makes it an even bigger mess.

alternatively, what we call the "right" spelling is archaic spellings predating the communication age.

Sure it seems silly to say such a thing NOW, when it's more of a transitional period, but in say another ten, twenty, hundred years?

But like, imagine writing "Gasoline" in the late 1862 when it was invented, named, and trademarked. They'd think you were a goddamn imbecile who doesn't know how to spell Cazeline.

Thankfully with no longer live in the dark ages and if a word is not in this book it is not a real word and can be safely ignored.

How old is your copy? Those things get updated regularly.

Soon you wont even need to use fingers/thumbs to type/text, your phone will just follow your eye movements and know what you want to say

Basically if enough people spell a word wrong for long enough, that becomes the new correct word huh. Like irregardless and regardless.

How do tactile keyboards work on a phone though?

And another thing. How are they so fast with having the reaction gif or pic ready while in the middle of typing and also typing with emojis without a break in their stride. If I even attempt to incorporate non-letters, its gonna take me another 5 minutes.
