DarkRoast 08/12/22 7:25:18 PM #1:	TLDR - the highest-level Imam was given false information about one of his books, and issued a fatwa (basically a holy edict) for Rushdie to be killed. By the time other officials realized that the fatwa was based on false information, the imam had died and the only way a fatwa can be rescinded is if either the issuer or a higher-level imam rescinds it. But in reality it was mostly just a book about self-discovery.
