How do you think it would differ from what we have now? Would the US have been like Australia and Germany with multiple games outlawed?

Yes, it would've been a disaster for the industry as Biden and most politicians at that time would've banned any video games with mature content from being sold to retail.

Quake would never exist.
Half-Life would never exist.
Turok games would never exist.
etc

They saw video games as toys for children, and would have governed them as such.

Boggles my mind that Night Trap was once so controversial it was spoken of in the same conversation as Mortal Kombat.

But anyways politicians barely understand how cellphones work they would absolutely butcher the game industry.

Though the optimist in me thinks that it wouldve eventually been rolled back to something resembling today's rating system.

Are toys explicitly protected as a form of speech? I feel like that would be the main argument presented against 1A protection. Woulda been interesting to see how that went.

Or maybe some developers woulda found a way around it by making "software suites" that just so happened to include a game as 90% of its content <_<

Yes, video games were heavily censored till a few years ago. Blood and gore were removed, along with ragdoll physics.
