The faded life bar represents recoverable health. The only way to recover health is to activate heat and then not get hit. Blocking/shielding is okay. Actually hitting people makes you recover faster. During heat you're permitted one free use of arc drive. During blood heat you can embed last arc mid combo for free and successfully shielding automatically triggers last arc.
