But you are correct in that it doesn't hurt GME owners portfolios. They get the same amount of shares.

But you already admitted you understood it DOES make a difference when there is more synthetic shares than actual shares and brokers having to actually do it correctly, would fail to deliver.

The value of GME doesn't come from it's business success. It comes from people are contractually obligated to buy it at some point and have to pay monthly interest for every month in which they don't buy it.

Kind of gray, will be interesting to see it play out in court honestly. The argument is that they commissioned the BCG to form a plan for them to improve the company and that BCG provide them with a plan that wasn't feasible ( bad for shareholders is a violation of the company's fiduciary duty ).

Now can GameStop prove in court that BCG gave them a bad plan, I don't know. But if you hired an architect to design you a house and they gave you plans for a moon base you might feel you shouldn't pay them.
