Trump is saying the same thing. And last we checked, Trump is still the frontrunner for 2024. Or you've got Desantis in a close second, who has already inserted Christian nationalism into Florida's schools.

People were saying Trump would lose against the Democratic nominee, not that he'd fail to get the Republican nomination. Anyone but Hillary would have beaten Trump. They chose literally the least popular Democrat to run against a buffoon who told entitled, anti-intellectual bigots exactly what they wanted to hear.

The right-wingers who run strictly on a religious platform always seem to come up short among conservative popularity contests, yet the remain the most feared Republicans of all.

yeah I knew someone who was a total PragerU drone, which was a damn shame because in general he was a nice and fairly intelligent guy, but just absolutely indoctrinated, and he didn't think Nazis were rightwing because Leftists are for big government and Conservatives are for small government.
I had no idea up until then that he was mixing up left and right with up and down on the political scale, he didn't even know what left and right stood for, and most of his friends who responded to him didn't either. I have to wonder how many others consider themselves conservatives just because they have no clue what leftists even are.

It's all in an effort to make it near impossible to have honest, informed discussions.

It makes no sense till you realize that conservatives don't have an ideology other than "fuck everyone who isn't me"

Federally, perhaps. On the more local levels the religious extremists are gaining more power.

There's also the Supreme Court, which is the most biased towards ruling in the favor of religion than any other in almost 100 years

You may want to handwave her away, but her type of vitriolic crazy is finding an audience.

liberals do not love authoritarians, they love the impression that they are standing against them while in reality no actual struggle of any sort is occuring

Conservatives are liars and hypocrites. They have to lie to themselves to justify their own shit and self-harming views as well.
