Yeah its a great game, after stardew I tried the new story of seasons and it didnt scratch the itch.

I was thinking of trying rune factory 4s next...

I should of played it when it was on gamepass.

Im playing the new story of seasons now and plan on playing stardew valley next. Im kind of new to these types of games but I find its all I can play these days and it scratches the gaming itch.

Its usually only 15 bucks. Its a fantastic deep game with a ton of replay value

if you aren't super invested in SoS i recommend just moving on to stardew, it's that much better

Yeah, I agree with this. I think it can eventually be outdone in marginal ways, like maybe making it full 3D or something different that keeps pretty much all of the gameplay, but the art style is part of the charm in a big way.

Stardew valley is great but the modding scene is even better. Playing with mods I could never go back to vanilla

It's fun but I can't get into games like that where the content is a slow drip after doing repetitive tasks. Plus the waifus are awful in it

Imagine being the Harvest Moon devs and watching one guy get so disappointed with your games that he makes his own game by himself and outsells your entire series several times over.

I think Rune Factory 4 is better in many ways, but if you really like designing a big, aestheticly pleasing farm then SDV is the superior option. RF4 has a long, drawn out story, better combat, and more exploring. One thing I didn't like is the crafting is annoyingly complex for my liking. Haven't tried RF5 yet.

It's the kind of game that you really can't make a real mistake in (outside of repeatedly dying in the mines and losing all your crap over and over, I guess).

Probably the only thing that might be relevant is more a personal tick but don't feel bad about spending money for ore/wood/etc. Getting a ton of preservative jars/kegs online fast is the best way to make money (sans "I know everything about the game" strats) and that takes way more materials than you are going to have. It might feel like a ton up front but the amount of value you get from preserving/fermenting makes up for it insanely fast.

To be fair mods take away combat and exploration from RF4 as well. Stardew is the definitive farming game pretty much period, and having a legit story really isn't that big of a deal in the genre.

There is no time limit to play and enjoy games other than pre-death.

The surprising thing is, they have Stardew Valley as a good example of game they should be making and they still make shitty SoS games lol.

You can place things pretty much anywhere.

However, if it's in an NPCs path at anytime, it will be destroyed.

I have also waited wayyy toooo long to play Stardew Valley but apparently G.Y. is a similar game and I have played quite a bit of that. The art is probably the best of any farming games. It has a day of the week system which is really cool and only certain things happen on certain days. Also the chest system is stellar level of easy because literally anything you need to make at a machine takes all the resources from all the surrounding chests and pools them together so theres no need to guess which chests have what and take it and put them in your inventory.

I haven't finished GK, but its good.

Rando question, anyone know if there are any real differences between the steam and switch versions of GK?

They have similar metacritic scores, but the steam reviews seem way higher
