To be clear I personally don't think the standing jokes are problematic (for reference I'm partially-blind and yet still laugh at blind jokes) and it appears she is fine with them too. These jokes aren't based in stereotypes; rather it's injecting humor into the midst of an unfortunate circumstance.

Reddit is a link aggregation website and discussion functionally happens inside something akin to YouTube comments.

I probably deserved that. What i said and the way i said it was pretty offensive, made a mistake and talked "guy talk" in a public forum to TC who i remember is known for making trying to talk to girls topics.

Everybody does deserve love and i actually do feel sorry for people in wheelchairs because i'm sure it makes it more difficult for them to find somebody.

I have a life long friend that uses a wheelchair. She said she doesn't like when others push her wheelchair for her but she likes when other people hold the door open for her.

She said strangers in NYC will randomly push her wheelchair for her and she hates it.

I get like that with my mental health. I don't like people treating me too softly or withholding too much triggering information from me because it makes me feel slighted and like I'm a baby.

Yeah, people randomly pushing is a basic boundaries thing. And a bunch of times it is people moving the wheelchair out of the way and ignoring that a person is in it. When you do it to try and be helpful it's super patronizing, they got there somehow and would say if they needed help. It's so messed up.

People are fucked up, especially in America. The fact people will start pushing a wheelchair without saying anything is bad enough. Countless wheelchair users have been harmed or had their wheelchair or other medical devices damaged because of that shit.

I can see it happen.
My father was at a hospital for tests because his body decided to reject some organs, and he was sitting in a wheelchair. My mother was with him, pushing the wheelchair.
The doctors talked directly to my mother instead of with my father simply because he was in the wheelchair, it was like they thought that he wouldnt understand just because he was in the wheelchair.

Just treat her like a person. My mom was married to a guy in a wheelchair. Although do get the door for her and maybe carry some stuff. I'm sure she'll letcha know if she needs help with something.

I had covid a few weeks back, and I'm negative now but every few days my cough will return. It's happening now and I'm super self-conscious about it if it continues onto the date.

What time is the date?

Wheelchair user reporting in:

1. Don't touch the chair.
2. Don't try and push the chair.
3. Don't help unless asked.
4. Treat her just like you would anyone else.

Ask if you can push her if its a manual chair. This is coming from someone who dated a wheelchair user. I also push my brother around sometimes.

There are some really lazy trolls in this topic.
