A psychic medium is on set to determine if you're giving it your all or not (and this one is a real mind-readingpsychic). If you end up also winning the competition, you'll get the prize money ($150k) as well. If you get eliminated and haven't broken any rules, you'll get the 100k after.

I was going to say I could get pretty far if I was just putting on a dress, some makeup, a padded bra shaved my body and face hair and put on a wig but looks like the goal is to look like an oompa loompa.

So you have to do some sort of act?

Each episode consists of the following:

1. A mini-challenge: this is usually some sort of silly game, and the winner(s) of the mini-challenge get some kind of advantage (like being a team captain if there are teams, or getting to choose first if there's list of things to choose from) in the upcoming main challenge (the main challenge is called the maxi-challenge).
2. The maxi-challenge: This is what ultimately determines who wins and who is in the bottom 2 for the episode. Maxi-challenges test the talent of the queens in categories like design, comedy, acting, song-writing, improv, dance, hosting, makeovers, one-woman shows, talent shows, etc.
3. The runway: After the maxi-challenge, the queens have to walk the runway following a specific theme. Immediately following the runway, the queens hear the judges critiques about their maxi-challenge performances and their runways. The winner and the bottom 2 are typically chosen based on the maxi-challenge. The runway is often used as a tie-breaker if multiple queens did equally well or equally poorly.
4. Lip-sync for your life: The winner of the episode is announced to everyone and wins a prize. The two queens who did the worst according to the judges now have to perform a lip-sync to the same song simultaneously on the same stage. They can perform this lip-sync however they want. RuPaul then picks the winner of the lip-sync, and she gets to stay while the losing queen is eliminated.

I'd be read at every oppertunity and screw up every challenge so bad but I'd have fun probably probably doing it. Also you'd get to be judged by and get to interact with RU the one and only how cool would that be.

This but I'd do it. I don't even care for some of the looks presented on his show. I've seen a few that feel more alien cosplay than drag to me. But I don't make the rules.

I've crossdressed before. I'd just need some help in the makeup department and some fashion tips. I'd go for a goth look definitely

They don't provide any budget or outfits for contestants. They do provide makeup though.

So I was thinking about whether or not I would go for it, and while I'd like to try, I think I'd just wind up not getting anything as I'd probably just wind up standing around awkwardly in something out of my mom's closet and stammering out some half-remembered lyrics during the talent contest part of it.

Unless the psychic is grading on a curve and recognizes that's probably the best they're getting out me as an introvert who hates being the center of attention.

HairyQueen explained it pretty well. Different drag queens compete with each other, every episode one queen gets eliminated and the one that wins out of the final three remaining gets the crown. Really fun television also if you're not into drag specifically (I wasn't but have watched most of the shows since, it helps if you have an appreciation of the arts though).

RPDR is unironically one of the most quotable shows of all time. I've been a huge fan since season 4, but stopped watching after S12.

Imagine the same basic concept of having a professional wrestling gimmick, but using feminine tropes and playing on femininity. Some drag queens focus on pageants and try to look as purrdy as possible, others go with more campy looks, and others go for artsy, high-concept looks like the first pic in TCs post.

There's a lot of different things going on with drag. There's the obvious element of fashion, but there's comedy/improv, dancing, lip syncing, and similar to wrestling, specific "moves" done during live shows meant to make the crowd lose their shit. Some drag queens don't even go with the musical angle and focus primarily on things like insult comedy.

I'm not capable of sincerely attempting things I'm guaranteed to fail at so pass.
