I've been seeing some people saying this about Eren becoming evil. Yall think so too?

You miss the axe murder part when he was a child, or how before the timeskip he was constantly screaming out how he wanted to rip his enemies throats out with his bare hands?

It was obvious from the start. What other 8 year old kid is able to kill grown men and screams about how they are scum?

He was pretty explicit in that he wants to kill his "enemies" only. Turns out that after a bunch of revelations his enemy just so happens to be every single person not on his island. He didn't change, he just grew and learned more.

Wanting to kill the people who want to exterminate you for being born before they can genocide you is not evil.

I disagree. Pretty sure little Eren would not agree with adult Eren. And he did change.

Pay attention to little Eren's rants and ravings every single time he was rendered powerless, helpless, or desperate. He was screeching out his intentions every single moment he could. Little Eren and Big Eren are the same person, except one has the capacity to inflict his desires upon his enemies and the other kept on getting their limbs chopped off.

Let's forget Eren for a second here. This implies you guys also thought he was always able to do these crazy things?

I don't really think it's reasonable to look at someone as a kid, then as an adult, and act surprised when there's a difference in capability.

But hey, go ahead and do it yourself. Go watch some yt clips of some pivotal Eren moments throughout the series and pay attention to what he's saying. Combine that with the axe murder part and you won't be surprised either that he was willing to do the rumbling.

It's not so much that he was always evil, bit always the way he is? Whatever is wrong with him? His callous disregard for the lives of those he doesnt agree with, his regular dereliction of duty, his lies, suicidal and fatalistic tendencies, and so on.

When you take someone like that and give them all the power in the world, over and over, of course they're going to end up like like that.

But power would almost change anyone. Saying that's distinction between Eren back then and now is a little unfair don'tcha think?

The only distinction between child Eren and adult Eren is that adult Eren experiences the people outside the walls and feels bad about having to kill innocent people. Young Eren would push a button that exterminated the world without a second thought. They are the same person willing to kill in the name of freedom either way.

So if anything, adult Eren is less "evil" than the little guy. Which is why Eren retreats into little Eren's form to watch the Rumbling.

That isn't the distinction though. Even was always like that, even before his first taste of power. As a kid, as a soldier, after he got the attack titan, after he started beating other titans, and so on. He was always relatively the same. The only difference is at the end, he seems to understand how horrible everything he's doing is. Still, he reverts back (again) to all those things I mentioned in my previous post, just on a larger scale.

With the time and shared memory shenanigans I wouldn't be surprised if itsrevealed that adult Eren was influencing little Eren's actions

The manga kinda concluded this as a maybe? As in there's only one time line and everything that happened was generally meant to happen. There's room for interpretation on if certain people had to die, or if everything had to be exactly the same or just end like it did

However, iirc there's no proof Eren was manipulated at all before he got his titan

He kinda was in, a very limited capacity. He gave his memories of the future to Grisha and Grisha gave those memories to past Eren. Future Eren gave past Eren extremely curated views of the future. See post #10.
