Just started it and it feels all over the place. You can aircombo forever. There's this thing where you can dash into walls and trigger abilities. There's Disney rides. You get seemingly random party attacks. There's this focus gauge thing.

There's so much, but feels like it comes down to spamming triangle because there's too many mobs to fight the traditional way.

The combat is decent on critical when you turn attractions off, but the overall takeaway is still "it's KH2 combat, but worse" rather than being remotely interesting in its own right.

I guess the keyblade transformations are the unique flair and it's my fault for not experimenting with them further because I like to stick with the basic moveset.

They became too obsessed with spectacle over actual substance. Just like the plot.

Combat's fine with me, you're very easily maneuverable in the air, and the game encourages you to be in it

I wish they'd given some lame plot reason for the attraction flow. It comes out of nowhere and isn't really related to anything Sora's done before. Even if it was just Yen Sid going "Hey Sora before you go, take this magical amulet that summons mystical machines from another dimension!" And Sora saying "Golly gee willickers! Thanks Yen Sid! Gotta go!"

Do you get more air dashes later? It felt so goofy for me because you can just pin yourself to one spot attacking. I don't think I even touched the ground on the Titan fight. The air combo never ends.

I feel like some of the party attacks and form finishes are the same way. It feels like they basically took the 1000 heartless fight from KH2 where you spam specials to get through the high number and made it the whole game.

On the fly key blade switching would be so sweet in KH2.

You do, yes, you get more aerial moves and stuff as the game goes on. But yeah you're encouraged to fight in the air because that's where you're the most powerful

The game was made by the Osaka team because the main team that made the pre-BBS games was making FF7R.

Basically this.

I feel like I wouldn't have minded the abundance of mechanics if they drip fed them to you organically through the game, instead of tossing them all at you at once and making you feel overwhelmed.

(Also, in-universe it doesn't make sense for Sora to have all these things since characters repeatedly comment on him being "weaker than usual" at the start of KH3, yet he's turning Keyblades into chariots, firing off -za level spells willy nilly, and summoning roller coasters.)

I don't hate the combat in KH3, that said, it's just not super deep or challenging. Granted, that's also due in part to the game being piss easy in general outside of Critical (and even sometimes in Critical too). But stuff like Keyblade leveling and switching on the fly is really convenient and generally great ideas.

I was gonna mention yeah the pro and ez codes make it so that the game can legit be as easy or as hard as you want it to be at any difficulty at any time
