Like many things, they aim for the appearance of addressing it, not actually addressing it. It's more valuable to them for people to think there's a problem and promise to solve it (but never actually do so).

Which yes, makes them the lesser of two evils when the other side is actively trying to make the problem worse, but you're still fooling yourself if you think they actually want to solve anything.

Micro Plastics in the Ocean is a problem and reducing Plastic use does help with the overall Plastic issues.

Remember. Environmental Damage is also just as important as Climate Change.

ReThink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. In that order specifically.

That helps with the greater overall Plastic Pollution issue.

Use only Plastic as needed, when it makes sense.

Any changes necessary to prevent this would have called extremism decades ago. Today the necessary changes are far far worse than what would have fixed it decades ago and nobody wants to do whats necessary in fear of being labelled an extremist. Single-use plastic straws are a huge factor in the environment getting to the state it's in because you use them to drink one thing and then throw them out (don't even sit there and try to tell me you recycle every last straw you use, anybody who says this is a liar), and have a really bad habit of killing fish, turtles, and other sea life.
