Like, it's not 2020 anymore where we have this contagious disease killing everyone and we have no vaccine or cure.

Deaths are still way down. Vaccines are effective in preventing deaths and serious illness. And anti-viral meds are becoming more and more readily available each month.

If you don't want to get sick, wash your hands and keep sanitizer on you. If you don't want to die, get the vaccine. It's that simple.

To answer seriously, I dont want to have any possible side effects long term from getting covid or do I want to have a hard time getting rid of them if theyre short term.

I dont want to lose out on work hours or use up vacation time for something that could have been prevented by mandating vaccines and masks.

I dont want to pass it on to friends or family and it ends up taking one of their lives no matter how big or small.

The strains adapt and evolve and Im fearful of what it could turn into if we let it go wild as we have been recently.

Long Covid is a possibility.
There's still an incubation period where you show no symptoms and are infectious, that's still serious trouble for immuno-compromised people who're being expected to play along with the collective delusion that it's either benign or gone.
Repeated infections could chip away and do substantial damage over time.
Giving it free rein to keep mutating is a horrible idea.
It's very concerning that everyone's collectively given up and are itching for an any vague evidence to tell you that it's a complete non-issue.
Isn't it spiking right now?

It was established a while ago that running around with a bottle of sanitizer won't cut it either. You can get it through your eyes. A vaccine is great but don't take pity on the literal killer disease and help it.

I'm not overly concerned. I'll still take precautions to avoid getting sick like I would with any disease, but I'm not going to stop living my life because of fearing Covid.

i'm the same way

obviously you still definitely do not want to catch this virus, but we're at a point where i'm not going to live in fear of it anymore

I have a 15 month old who up until recently could not get the vaccine. She actually got covid a few weeks ago and we spent several days in the hospital cuz it was bad. We are now worried about long term effects.

We are also expecting another kid next month who will be born with a congenital heart disease and will be at increased risk.

So shut up.

I dont care about it anymore. Had it last month, and it was slightly worse than a common cold. Symptoms resolved in 3 days. Its not a big deal to me anymore.

This whole "don't live your life in fear" is a dogwhistle.
Nobody has ever said "be afraid for the rest of your lives! Never go outside again"
That's bullshit.

We should absolutely be aware that it's still an ongoing issue.
Longterm effects are horrifying, and more are being discovered.
We don't have a cure, just treatment of symptoms.
Things we should not go back to doing:
- Sharing drinks/food (portion some out for someone, but don't just take a sip of someone's drink)
- going to work sick (not reasonable I know. Employers are garbage and won't provide adequate sick leave)
- buffet dining (food should be portioned and brought to your table, no more communal dishes. Want more? Ask for more)

Things we should keep doing:
- social distancing (for health and because I don't want random chuds breathing down my neck)
- wear a mask when you're sick and can't stay home
- wash hands regularly
- plexiglass barriers at stores and restaurants

This shit is beyond contagious, my girlfriend is immunocompromised, and I feel like people are being ridiculously selfish in prioritizing their own convenience over the lives and health of a general populace, especially those more vulnerable. It's seriously not hard to mask, distance, and minimize proximity to strangers. Don't eat at restaurants, don't go to indoor events with large crowds, and stop acting like you won't get command grabbed. It's not hard.

Good enough reasons?
