Size doesn't mean anything if someone surprises you with a weapon.

If a homeless person has serious mental health issues or is heavily under the influence, the size of their target can matter a lot less. Some people in that cognitive state may lash out because they see a larger target as a threat. Those who appear to communicate without difficulty can still be heavily impacted by mental health on the inside without immediate red flags.

Even homeless people without cognitive issues can still be intensely territorial and short tempered due to the harsh conditions of living unprotected on the streets, where it can quickly escalate into survival of the most frantic. Some of these unfortunate people have also become recently homeless and may bare resentment towards the world and any passersby who looks like they're doing better.

No hate on the homeless, but as a pedestrian it's best to keep your distance. You don't know what their living conditions have done to the mental state or restraint. If you want to be a good Samaritan towards them, do it carefully.

Well, she may be tall, but she's not that heavy. The homeless guy might have been shorter than her but still outweighed her by quite a lot-- and that's before you add in the fact that he was using a weapon.

What does height have anything to do with this? If someone came up and shot me from behind, would it matter if I was nine feet tall?

Charged with assault with deadly weapon. Whats the punishment for that usually?

Imo, any attacks with weapon to the head should be attempted murder.
