Even when the management explicitly forbids it.

I drink water when I first wake up and then most of a cup of coffee. I do drink before I go to work, yes.

We had this topic a while ago.
At this point you're lucky if your employees aren't drinking on the job.

I used to work somewhere where multiple employees would get drunk and high before even starting work, then on break and lunch they'd just start right back up again. Only ever seen a single person get fired for it, cause he passed out while walking up some steps and management couldn't easily overlook a dude that was blacked out in the middle of a work area.

I would have to change employment. We work with CNC lathes and a couple manual lathes. That shit has no place here. We had a guy who showed up half drunk or hungover or whatever you wanna call it and he got let go with the quickness.

I used to bartend and would drink a lot before, during and after work.

This however is true.

there are people who are under the delusion that there exists such a thing as a "functional alcoholic"

Ya, and most can't function without Caffeine.

Having said that, I hardly live in a dry town.
So many people drink heroically.
I've literally and often see people with shopping carts filled with bottles.
Like a stupid amount.

never been a waiter? I waited tables at 18 years old and got drunk (off of the restaurant's margaritas) at the start of my shift and sobered up by midnight.

Losing your buzz at work is awful so I don't recommend.

Since the rules of the company I work for apply to everyone from corporate to retail cashiers, we are technically allowed one alcoholic beverage on lunch break and are allowed to work as long as your BAC is .04 or lower
