If an armed gunman was gearing up to enter a school, why would you need permission to shoot? You shoot him dead, he is there for one thing only.

So now they have to ask permission to shoot someone, let alone a murderer in the process of committing mass murder?

What about that cop that tried to go in, but was stopped and detained by the other cops?

To be honest, I can see why some sniper didn't want to take a kill shot without orders. 911 calls are often stupendously wrong. I just watched a video where a bunch of cops responded to a terrorist attack with a man screaming "ISIS!" in a hotel lobby. Turns out the 911 caller lied and it was just an Arabic dude trying to check in. So I can see why a sniper wouldn't want to execute someone running across a school yard unless he had orders.

I can also understand why the cops wouldn't want to just try to bust through a sheet rock wall into a room full of kids and a gunman. Maybe... that would have been a good move, but I can see why they wouldn't want to try it.

The dude sped through the school grounds, crashed his vehicle, and was exchanging gunfire on his way to the classroom.

This wasn't a situation where the cops were forced to discern hearsay from fact due to a 9-11 call. It was a danger that was unfolding right in the face of 3 different officers.

A similar incident happened somewhere else a few hours later where a dude tried to walk into a school while carrying a rifle and the cops just shot the dude dead no questions asked.

Fucking stunning levels of incompetence. I'm surprised they aren't dragging all of these officers behind their cars.

He should have been quieter about it or run in so no one could stop him, he also could have used the same entry point the shooter used.
