Valkyria Chronicles is a totally different series. Valkyrie Profile is a turned based RPG series with a focus on exploration and deep stories on the einherjar that join your party.

The games are great and very memorable. It has some cool bosses, but the main thing that sticks is the Purify Weird Soul attacks.

A PSP, around about 30
Android phone, its on there for like 14 bucks and goes on sale for 8 regularly

Valkyrie Profile appears to be releasing for PS5, PS4 on 29th September 2022. At least that's what the PS Store listing in the USA says now. -

The way that Square has absolutely shat on this series has left me permanently jaded about anything carrying its name.

Looks like we get that remaster of VP Lenneth the same day. It would be cool if they did a collectors edition of the new game that came with it.

Overall it doesnt look super bad. Just nothing special.

Game looks a bit better than when it was initially revealed, I can see the "art style" they're going for more clearly. It's like a very slight stylization with thin outlines on the characters.

It's super off putting to me, looks like cel-shaded but not? During a lot of the action stuff, especially indoors, it felt like the character models were clashing with the background somehow. Super jarring to look at.

Drakengard 3 did the same kinda thing. Everything looked super fuzzy and too bright

1+2 were great. i was surprised at how good 2 really was.

but i don't expect anything good from it anymore. lowest of low expectations for this one.

I got plat on that and I don't recall disliking it. I expected nothing from VP Elysium and I'm still let down.

I hated 2.

But I'm a die-hard VP1 fanboy. They changed the systems around too much, I much prefer turn based over whatever the action shit they did was. That and they made the einjherjar recruitment pseudo-random iirc and had a "surprise" betrayal.
