As others have pointed out, without Phil Lamarr Samurai Jack would have sounded wrong. Same with Cleveland Brown, Naruto being voiced by a woman, Bart being voiced by a woman, and even Darth Vader being voiced by a black man, despite the character being white. It shouldn't matter, as long as the voice matches the character. Nowadays you could have someone who is perfect for a role but because of appropriation they will get turned down.
