In this case the full data set includes Georgia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina (four times), Alabama, Florida (three times), Texas (three times), Oklahoma (twice), Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Nebraska, and Tennessee. This means that every single state not listed falls into the exact same category as California. In addition you will notice that the article itself only talks about affordability of the houses, not the desirability, meaning that it is entirely of Fox's own fabrication as to that part of it: the study only cared about where the cheapest possible places were in locations were growing. Thus you are looking at a situation where the study is mostly irrelevant to the article as none of the things stated are anything more than inferences or bastardizations of the findings. You could flip the whole thing around and point out that the places listed are explicitly places that people don't actually want to live in all that much but have to because they happen to be close enough to a place that people want to work and thus have to move there: the entire concept of using the study for anything meaningful is questionable at best (generally there are studies that are only useful for pointing out where other things might be studied, but this one doesn't even really go that far as the entire thing is just rather moot in that it is studying something that most economics experts would view as relatively given outside of the explicit "these are the top 20 in the category" sort of way). --- "A shouted order to do something of dubious morality with an unpredictable outcome?
