and while i liked them giving more background on Butcher, i was more fascinated with Black Noir's. specially the way they showed it with those Chuck E Cheese-esque cartoons...

Ive been pretty bored of the Kimiko/Frenchie, and the MM/his family stuff this season. I dont remember feeling this way before, I dont know if those storylines are worse now, or what.

I wonder if its anything to do with watching Stranger Things alongside this. Stranger Things is constant quality content, the whole show feels like movie. Never really a boring episode or a moment.

I feel like The Boys is using a lot of the shock value stuff like the octopus sex, Soldier boy being Homelanders dad reveal etc to keep the show going rather than actual making you feel tense and on the edge through the episodes. Heck i didnt like the Noir cartoon stuff even though it told an important part of the plot. This episode was boring to me.

I wonder if Hughie will take permanent V--the blue one, right next to the green temp V. Am I the only one that thinks the perm and temp V are kinda silly? Like perm is ok but temp will kill you?

The 24 hour V seems to be a more potent, but volatile mixture. Where as regular V is needed in long term doses to get you to the level of power you see in Butcher and Hughie. Look at all the shit tier supers like popclaw, look at how easily butcher killed gunpowder or how they can actually hold down homelander for any length of time(Kimiko, Maeve and Starlight barely did any damage to Stormfront). Unless it was to regain powers or used as a steroid by a supe, using normal V would never result in that level of ability after one use.

The comic was much better with spelling this out, and with showing many different formulas and applications of V. They had drugs you smoked that were really not going to make you a supe, they had resideue that had side effects on people(this is how MM got his power in tthe comic, he was brorn a supe), they had shitty mixtures that may just literally kill you on the spot. They explained well that the younger you are and the more V you're exposed to the more stable and powerful supe you'll become. Naturally homelander was made from storm front's dna and was given the most amount of V of any supe in the world, which is why he is so much more powerful in the comic.

Random thought, but I think that A-Train having Blue Hawk's heart is a lie, just because I would think that it would've been destroyed after him being dragged on the ground like that, but I'm probably just overthinking it

Yea the comics are terrible. There's a handful of characters that are better imo. Homelander is awful to watch after a couple episodes(he just needs to get from point A to poinnt B already. Character development), V makes no sense and kimmiko/frenchie is just cringey. Sorry to have a different opinion than you on a few small things though, it must be rough.

Yeah, the show has been like this from the beginning. Everything is edgy for the sake of being edgy
I enjoy it for what it is but the people who go around "omg this is really what it'd be like if super powers were real" have never got the memo this is basically a 12 year olds Marvel/DC fanfic

Nah, Garth Ennis' writing is peak edgelord shit.

Show does a far better job at humanizing the characters

You are comparing apples to oranges. Why does the Boys have to constantly have you on the edge at all times? It's not a horror like Stranger Things.

It's definitely over-reliant on the shock stuff to keep things going.

Like, I've been waiting for Deep to realize that Cassandra/the Church have basically been manipulating/controlling him the entire time...only to find out that he's actually legitimately too stupid to realize it. Which is totally fine, but did we really need Deep wanting to have a threesome with his wife and an octopus, and then fucking the octopus to the disgust of his wife, to have that plot point come about?

The shock value is a valid complaint. I get trying to stay true to the tone of the comics, but my favorite parts of the show is the actual interactions and sometimes the parody of super heroes living in a capitalistic world like ours. However saying things like "feeling tense and on the edge all the time" feels like the person is wanting to watch a different show.

Overweight 70-year old granny tits, to boot.

Also switching between this and Stranger Things and having Sam Reiser playing completely different characters in both of them is fucking hilarious.

Poor Noir? He had already crippled some poor kid as a child long before whatever heinous stuff he's done as a supe. If anything, Soldier Boy needed to have finished him off back then

Dang, here I was thinking Soldier Boy might have actually been one of the good ones.

He was a piece of shit from the start. No way him and the Boys weren't going to turn on eachother.

Looks like Black Noir is going to be very different than what I've been told happens in the comics.

This. The entire 7 are scum bags except Star Light, and to a lesser degree Maeve.

Noir killed hostages/innocent people.

Specifically with the Noir kid killing thing, I get " didn't know own strength/powers manifested" vibes from what very very little we know so idk

Kinda like kid Homelander snapping that doctor in half when he tried to hug her
