That game is pretty interesting. I played a bit of it on PC Game Pass. Some of the mechanics seem just thrown in to be there though like the farming

Lol was gonna download it off Gamepass but decided against it because it looks too bad to be enjoyable.

Though, games like Yakuza can usually get away with it by adding enough context to make bizarre stuff work a lil better. At least, enough for me to give into it.

Is there any context around this or is it a throwaway line in the game? Is it just "teehee, pissing on the sidewalk for money is funny cause it's vulgar"? Is there anything explaining why or how it led specifically to that?

The Good Life. From the creator of Deadly Premonition which I love. This game is less janky and smaller scale, but it's totally in on the joke. The story is pretty damn incoherent, but the writing can be fun. Main character is the best thing going for sure.

The photography angle is enjoyable and there's a fuck ton of side quests, but none of the main missions really tie in together well enough. It's just sort of a collection of crazy ideas SWERY had. The majority of the game are fetch quests. There's a whole farming and crafting angle to it, but it's too much of a damn slog to get the materials. You can easily make enough money with a little hard work, but grinding for animal skins and shit turned me away from wanting to get all the outfits and whatever. The exploration is fun and it's a big open world while still being mostly contained into a small town. So there's really not all that much to find. There are also some real problems like your fastest means of travel is riding a sheep, but if you pick your mission order like I did, you won't get access to it until 75% into the game. There are also stats to maintain with a mess of a hud. Some missions will only track if you have them selected while others don't need to be. So find X amount of items will always update whenever you find them, but kill X amount of hedgehogs will only increase if you kill them while the mission is selected.

Whole game is a quirky mess. There's some weird fun to be had for sure, but it's also a slog. I'm a guy that loves side quests and cleaning up everything before progressing the main game, but I eventually said fuck it and stuck to the main missions for the most part after multiple road blocks.

If you were a fan of Deadly Premonition I'd say try it. If you are down for something very different and like side quests and lots of odd side characters try it. Hard to recommend otherwise. But yeah, is on Game Pass, so if it doesn't cost ya anything extra, then it's there.
