I haven't played it before, but since it's free on PS Plus I figured I might as well give it a shot. Playing the PS5 version.

The presentation is really quite amazing, although it definitely feels like a kojima game, pretentiousness and all.

I'm one of the few people who played all the metal gear solid games and didn't particularly care for most of them, although I loved Metal Gear Solid 3.

I don't know if I'd go that far. But I played enough of his games to recognize that he's particularly good at toying with the player, and in ways that are a bit deeper than he initially lets on, and I respect that.

I enjoyed it. Feels like one of those games that justifies being an open world game that isn't just spreading a whole bunch of icon missions on the map to do.

i bought MGS5 for like 7 bucks

first MGS game i played

amazing game
made me buy death stranding for 40 bucks

he is a true artist

It's a unique, incredible experience.

What I like about this game is that it has a sort of organic learning curve. Compared to a lot of the other kojima games, which tend to have a lot of tutorials and hand-holding early on, this one kind of just throws you in and expect you to figure out what's going on and how to play it. I've always liked games that do that.

I will say, compared to Metal Gear solid, this game seems a lot more actually serious in its storytelling. Metal Gear solid is basically a satire of 90s political dramas that clearly doesn't take itself very seriously.

This on the other hand reminds me a lot of something like Alien, where it sort of thrusts you into an inhumane, hostile and alien world, doesn't really tell you what's going on, and leaves it up to you to determine the point, if there even is one.

As I've gotten older, I've learned to appreciate games that are more about the experience than the mechanics.

Well if nothing else, the opening with the title drop where the guy tries to shoot himself but can't was cool as hell

Its the best strand type game ever made
