Almost no one liked the Black Noir "plot twist" even when it first debuted in the comics. The only thing it did was to give Homelander and Butcher a reason to buddy up.

Butcher being the last baddie though was pretty cool plot twist though, as cliched as it gets.

Well considering Black Noir on the Amazon show is actually black i don't think they are going with the "clone gimmick".

Was that from the flashback Soldier Boy scene? I assumed Black Noir died there and has been replaced with someone else. But I guess there wasn't anything to really tell us that.

The classic "if you shove in a last second backstory or flashback the mass murdering psychopath was really tragic the whole time"

the core idea of "wouldnt irl superheroes just be insane egomaniacs and ran by a corrupt corporate hellscape?" is great but the author is such an incompetent edgelord fuckstick that he ruins it every chance he gets

In S2 when Maeve force feeds him an Almond Joy, she pulls his mask up and you can see his face is all fucked up

The flashback of before the base/campground was attacked, he had his mask off.

That plot was one of the only decent things about the comic and actually demonstrates a concrete reason for Homelander really falling into being the way he is, way over the moral event horizon. Otherwise it is gore porn masturbation and the show is way better in every other way. Homelander in the show, he's just already there and very campy about it. They actually focus on his mental state way too much for something that never builds to anything, never gets better or really much worse.

He's doing the same shit as he was in the first 3 episodes and it's past time to kill off his TV show character if he isn't going to just dive bomb a city or explode with rage in any way at all already. He just makes a stupid face and he curls his lip and walks out of frame, cut to next scene. Besides the rest of the comic which is fucking trash, the Homelander/Noir plot and characterizations are better. Homelander is a chump in the show, and he's long in the tooth already. Didn't think a shitty Garth Ennis character could be made worse but I was wrong.

What was the twist?

Black Noir is a stronger clone of Homelander, only purpose is to kill Homelander if he ever went rogue. He does unspeakable acts, dressed as Homelander and films it all and send it to Homelander. Homelender truly thinks he is crazy and although he has no memory of these things he must be doing them. Over time it wears him down along with his obvious charade being a failed hero, Vaught's control of him, etc. and he finally goes nuts and tries to rule the world. Black Noir reveals himself in a giddy outburst of laughter, they fight and he beats Homenlander to death.

Nah. I started reading the comics about a year before it ended and I liked it a lot. I reread all of them again right before season 2 started and I still think its good. The changes that the show made to Hughie, Annie, Frenchie and The Female are good but I think that everything else about the comic is better.

Focusing on pretty much nobody else but The Seven from the beginning of the show was a mistake. I wouldve loved to see the show adapt some of the arcs like Hughie going undercover in G-Whiz or the Tech Knight stuff. Having The Boys take on smaller teams while they work their way up to Homelander and The Seven is a much more compelling way if telling the story in my opinion. People are already saying that theyre sick of the show recycling the same conflict between Homelander and The Boys and this wouldnt be an issue if theyd kept the original format from the comic.

And I prefer how everyone in the team took the drug to get powers as soon as they joined and had them permanently instead of the show waiting 3 seasons and then giving them temporary powers. It just seems pointless to me.

Turning Stillwell into a woman just to have a weird mother-son incest relationship with Homelander and then Jill her off and introduce Mr. Edgar, who is exactly the same as comic Stillwell is another choice that makes no sense. Comic Butcher acts pretty updraft and chummy most of the time and tries to hide his rage whereas show Butcher is outwardly furious 90% of the time. Its really getting old now and he feels less nuanced because hes almost always in the same emotional state. Mothers Milk doesnt even have any reason to have that name in the show lol. They didnt even try to explain it.

The show also tries really hard to humanize The Seven and thats not necessary at all. In the comic its clear that theyre compete pieces of shit and thats all you need to know to get on board with The Boys mission. I get that they have to pad out the episodes a bit but at the end of the day these people are still scum and any redemption arc or backstory you try to give them to become more sympathetic just fees wrong.

I like the show. I just like the comic more
