models wise they dont fit in super well with the rest of the factions IMO, they were really there to compete against the gundam models that were big in the 90s. lore-wise they're space commies & too nice for the universe they're in. gameplay-wise they're too shooty which can be not very fun for melee focused lists

warhammer (not warhammer 40k, that came later) is a fantasy game, warcraft orcs and humans was originally intended to be a warhammer fantasy RTS, but they couldnt get the license for the IP. back then, GW didnt like loaning out its IP for video games.
