ME! A little bit. It seemed... okay.

I also remember a similar game called ARES I bought on Steam years ago that was a Mega Man like game.

Although that's an upgraded version from the one I have.

Unfortunately, I did. Thankfully I did not pay for the copy. A friend of mine was psyched about it's release and loves Mega Man-like games, so I humored him.

It definitely felt like a rushed unfinished product. I liked some of the concepts, but it was barebones compared to many of the actual Mega Man games years before. I remember people making a huge buzz about this game being in development and when it finally came out for us to play, I was like....wait, this is it? This is less than what a bunch of MM games have already offered in the past and did a better job of it. I felt bad that my friend paid for this game, of course I didn't tell him that.

When it was my turn to play, we also had his stereo turned up and the TV muted because I secretly could not stand the voice acting. There are poorly translated PS1 games with better dialogue...

I have, it's not as awful as people make it out to be. But it is definitely rough.

It's solidly 6/10. But when compared to the massive campaign behind it it feels much much worse lol.

A bit of a shame that it's dead, there's enough good points that a sequel could fix what went wrong and really kill it.

Once you get a feel for the wonky controls and the (at times) absolute bullshit trial-and-error level design, it's sorta fun if you like the Mega Man formula. The worst parts are some random pixel-perfect trap navigation, the silly imbalance of power in some of the weapons, and the baffling decision to make the dash move the primary way of dispatching damaged enemies.

If the dash had just been a "final hit bonus" or something, that's one thing, but once you damage the enemies and make them dashable, you have to shoot them like twice as many times to actually kill them without the dash. The dash is a dumb combat mechanic, and while it's supposed to feel fast and kinetic, it just makes the game feel clumsy.

I guess with tons of practice it can be a cool mechanic, but it should be a lot more optional than it was.
