On the heels of Jurassic Park, they released a game that was basically Mortal Kombat with King Kong and dinosaurs. I was hyped.

I was never any good at it - but I loved the presentation.

You're probably thinking of Bloody Roar: Primal Fury which gave rise to one of the most underrated fighting games, Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4!

Absolutely. I loved that game and the canned sequel had so much potential in terms of competitive play.

I believe WarnerBros owns it which means they could have NRS make it.

And what other big IPs does WB haveoh no one. Just a couple characters called GODZILLA AND KING KONG! Guest characters that would make $$$.

You know what I mean. They have some deal to use him in stuff.

They literally just had Godzilla Vs Kong guest in CoD or something

It begs the question. If Warner had Kong, why didn't they just make Primal Rage a King Kong game to begin with?

I know the big ape has been in legal limbo for a long time. (The new movies specifically call him "Kong" to avoid that.) But I wonder if 1995 was before or after the disputed ownership.

If I remember correctly, the only thing censored in the SNES version is the golden shower. But the SNES version has several finishing moves that aren't in the Genesis version.

It's like they said of the two games in Console Wars: "Not even monkey pee can save you now."

This was 1994, my dude.

WB was barely becoming aware videogames exist.

I had the Mega Drive version (as well as playing it in the arcade, obviously).

It wasn't great, but it was good enough that I think it deserved more entries.

Dinosaurs and giant apes beating the shit out of each other is a license to print money, surely?

Primal Rage (arcade) was made and published by Atari Games.

Time Warner Interactive only handled the publishing of the console ports.
