got talked into leasing a 2019 nissan rogue sl by my brother in law who runs a dealership. pretty satisfied with it i guess, but idk what i wanna do and the lease is up in a week. i can either turn it in, lease something new, or buy it out for $18000. nothing mechanically or cosmetically wrong with it, and it's got 26k miles on it. edit: i am not a car person whatsoever. --- http://i.imgur.com/ozVGOuh.png ... Oubliettes posted... got talked into uh oh Oubliettes posted... by my brother in law who runs a dealership jesus christ you got swindled Oubliettes posted... buy it out for $18000 You can open up a spreadsheet, do some small information gathering, and see whether or not this is financially smart for you. Impossible to give advice without knowing all sorts of things such as lease rate, finance rate on that 18k, value of car at new, value of car now (KBB), and what other opportunities are out there. If you're asking if you should write a cheque for 18 grand, absolutely never do that. ever. --- Not followed by anyone you're following ... Copied to Clipboard!

Naysaspace posted... uh oh 5.15% interest rate, monthly is $303, on a 72 month loan, which is less than the lease payment. looks like ~$27000 for a similar rogue with similar miles. they told me i had equity in it if i wanna trade in. --- http://i.imgur.com/ozVGOuh.png ... Copied to Clipboard!

How much money have you spent on the car since you started leasing? Interest? How much is the car worth now and how much was it worth when you started leasing? If you are going to finance what is the interest rate you're looking at? You're gonna have to do some calculations and see if it's even worth it. You may end up paying over the cars value when you began leasing it. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I honestly think 72 months is way too long for 18,000. You're gonna end up paying way too much in interest imo. ... Copied to Clipboard!

mustachedmystic posted... I tried to look up the value of a car like yours on KBB, but they want a license plate number. It came up to be around $30k I mean, you could buy it for $18k and then go trade it in for $26k or sell it for $30k From what I've seen, which isnt much, most pre-Covid leases are worth buying out in this crazy market.
