I'm a backup who gets to pick a role from dead town and I chose lie Detector on night 2. None of the people I called out complied with my request. Two of them were scum.

I am literally already scanned town unless you think Sultan is clever enough to put a flavor trap in the game (given his myriad of typos I highly doubt he's capable, no offense), so someone else scanning me a second time is a complete waste.

I do think there's a godfather whether or not you're it. What else is he gonna use for scum roles and you can't just leave no counter for the scanner

The next question to ask is... how does Rocko's Modern Life fit into the back-up claim? I have to concede that The Secret World of Alex Mack lines up a lot better with Plum's claim, and in a very obvious way.

Ben's messages were aimed at DYL, so before Red's claim.

Okay well quick skim through the topics says that Ben tried to coax Red into lying on Day 2. This lines up since DYL was also still alive by that time.

Red claimed on Day 3, after the no-kill. Either Ben fooled a scum Red into making him believe Backup was a safe claim, or town Red refused to play Ben's games for some arbitrary reason.

However, Ben was telegraphing this hard from Day 1. The same "I can see the future" nonsense that Plum called out as a Psychic claim. To Ben's merit, he perpetuated this with a very direct reference to Xenoblade Chronicles (namely, a picture of the protagonist Shulk, who can see into the future).

I would not put it past a scum Ben to plan this from the very beginning. However, if we focus just on Ben and Red's actions, I'd definitely believe Ben as town way more than Red this game.

But Ben... if you have a Backup Lie Detector, and none of the parties complied with your statement to insta-guilty scan them, what did you use your scan on?

I haven't used my actual lie detect scan yet. That's why i kept mostly quiet when Red claimed backup because I knew if IGCD was town he was dying before me and I could make it to today without having to use it.

I would ask if anyone has any suggestions for how to frame my question but since no one on scum answered the last one maybe I should stick with that and confirm 3 people

Suppose Ulti and one of Sheep, Lea, or me are scum. This statement becomes a lie, which doesn't tell us anything aside from Ulti may be town, or he's scum with someone in that group.

Unless this was your intent, Ben? I find it far simpler to just ask someone to say they're scum, without extra caveats.

To clarify, that statement is only the truth if and only if Ulti is scum and the other four are town. I mean, that's huge info, but why would Ulti willingly volunteer for this if he's scum?

If the statement is a lie, that means one of those conditions has to be false. If Ulti is town, both statements are false. If Ulti is scum, the statement is still false if at least one of Sheep, Lea, or me are scum.
