4 is so much of my childhood, and pretty much the greatest game ever made.

FFIV is always fun for a quick playthrough.

To add: I could replay FF4 right now and enjoy it. I could pick it up any time, at any part of the year, and still have fun with it. It is timeless.

FF6 I get extremely bored with after the floating continent, as an example. FF4 I enjoy every part of the game.

I'll play FF6 sometimes, and then get to the world of ruin and be like "oh yeah I forgot how lame this shit is" and stop the playthrough.

The Phoenix Cave is so fucking boring and tedious, etc. Just bleh.

10 is my personal favorite, and was also my first Final Fantasy. I'm sure that fact doesn't factor into it at all. >_>

Hey, if you like juggling parties full of characters you haven't touched the entire game then more power to you. I don't feel like using Cyan in the Phoenix Cave, or Relm or any of the other useless characters -- just to retrieve Locke.

The Phoenix Cave is one of my favorite parts of the game. I absolutely love any part that splits the party up. FF6 isnt my favorite FF, but it has my favorite final dungeon, easily.

Easily VI for me, though to be possibly contrarian I'd also say that it and IX are the only truly great games of the bunch.

I've always called 4 my pound for pound favorite. Some games I enjoyed more but I did have a few nitnitpicks. Only nitpick I had with 4 was overuse of a character "dying" only to come back later.

I've replayed 4 more than any other final fantasy.

FF1 is my most played for sure.

I still like to play FF5 every once in a while.

I won't play anything higher than FF6.

V has always been my favorite because the grind is satisfying. If I played it for the first time today it would probably be too much for me now. I don't have as much time for mindless grinding. IX has the best cast and story.

6 is still at the top of this particular list for me.

I would consider X to be the best of those and II to be the 2nd best. X has by far the best battle system out of them and the story was nice. II is, IMO, a great game, but it suffers a bit from predating the existence of non-magic skills.

Turns out I do. I love giving every party member in FF 6 their time to shine, and that's arguably the only game in the series that does multi-party segments right. And it's not like the Phoenix Cave is apropos of nothing; it's both the successor to the Three Scenarios / Narshe Defense and the prelude to Kefka's Tower in terms of what to expect when juggling multiple parties (as opposed to FF 7 and 8, which half-assedly throw in multi-party shenanigans at the eleventh hour). FF 6 is also much better structured for multi-party gameplay than its two successors, since every characters' abilities are unique, most of their weapons are unique, and there's more than enough high-powered armor, relics, and Espers to go around that everyone can be properly outfitted (as opposed to FF 7 and 8, where it's a huge waste to evenly spread materia / GF among unused party members, and a giant pain to reorganize them when the multi-party stuff comes up).
