Dont want to do one for many reasons. From politics, to dealing with toxic co workers (and management), to working with others whether you like them or not, and overall the boredom of doing boring repetitive work every day

Id rather work by myself and not deal with anyone much like I do in my current job. Sure office jobs pay a lot of money but id pass unless its a big cash out

No one I knew made more than $40,000ish/year in an office job unless they were the manager or someone highly skilled

Office politics is like lunch table cliques in High School. It's one of the most pathetic things about adulthood you will run into.

the only thing i don't miss about the office was the traffic

Work in finance? But I had a math background. I got $40k straight out of college in 2000. I did have to work on a lot of spreadsheets,

I worked retail for 10 years. When I got my first office job 5 or 6 years ago, it was like a godsend by comparison, and I never wanted to do anything other than that.

The lack of physical activity sucks, but the stress level trade off makes up for it

I like the prospect of a temperature controlled room where I get to sit down and can browse CE while I work.

I don't understand how. My very first IT job at 21 was entry level and I made $45k.

In regards to your OP, yeah some office environments are how you described but so many aren't and most aren't all of those things. Also if you're doing boring repetitive work all day then your office job requires no skill and is no better than a retail job imo. Of course it's going to be awful.

Never worked an office job (or any job besides my current one).

I wouldn't care for office politics, especially if you had an asshole who wanted to be petty over dumb fuck shit. But if I could just do my job and do it best for me and not have to uphold some arbitrary standard, then I think I'd like it just fine.

C. Politics are a thing but not the huge deal people make it out to be. I wfh but even at my last job I had my own office I shared with one other person and it was a shit ton of fun. Better money, better benefits and I dont need to do much physical work which I really hate doing.

I don't like it, but I rather do it than other stuff.

People really need to understand that work place politics and toxic coworkers exist in every single field imaginable, and not limited to just office jobs. Doesn't matter if it's blue or white collar or retail or skilled.

I am pretty sure we are all aware of that. What matters the most is how much you have to deal with it on a daily basis and in jobs that you work by yourself in, dealing with it isnt as bad there as is in an office where are you at work directly with them every single day.
