I just kind of lumped it in with all the other Triple A titles that I consider overrated, but since it's one of the games on that new PlayStation game pass rip off, I figured I'd give it a try. Sure is a nice looking game for last generation. Although I guess that shouldn't be that surprising considering Sony typically has one or two games at the end of the generation that still look good in the next one.

Probably my favorite experience last year. I kind of rushed the 3rd area but then realized there wasn't anything else I wanted to play more than GoT, so I ended up beating the DLC too.

It was enjoyable and dear god was the setting gorgeous. About 1/2 of the way through I got kind of bored of core gameplay loop though, same as I do with any other open world game. Luckily my wife dug it so she handled the exploration and camp clearing and I handled the story and sidequests.

One of my favorite games. The free MP expansion they did is fantastic. I just got a friend into the game, so PM me if you want some chill MP runs this weekend.

nah don't go with hard, go with the highest difficulty they added post-launch

The tacked on stealth really put me off from the game. I should probably give it another go.

The one where everything kills you in one hit? I wanted to be able to enjoy the story. It was actually really good imo. That mode would of stopped me from being able to properly split my attention because gameplay would take too much of my attention.

But hey, at least you'll immediately know if you wanna play it that way or not if you attempt it lol

Yep it is

It is TC. My only issues with GoT is....

-That it gets pretty repetitive
-You should be able to have better individual control over your sword swings instead of a string of swings
-Enemy AI can be pretty stupid
-It takes a bit too long to unlock all of the skills that you can get
-The ridiculous Uncharted esque shrine platforming segments should have been left out
-There should have been a survival aspect and mechanics in the game such as needing to hunt and fish for food and occasionally make camp to rest at
-The gore should have been more realistic

Still GoT easily a 8.5/10 game(Without DLC or multiplayer) and it is one of the best Sony games released in a long time. I really hope Sucker Punch makes a spiritual successor to it sooner than later.

I enjoyed it. The fast travel option definitely helped make it feel not tedious doing missions. But it was a really visually stunning game though, especially when the sun was going down.

The cutscene quality is fucking incredible .

Yeah, Sony and it's developers' forte seems to be games with amazing cinematics. As long as they can keep doing that while not making the cinematics to intrusive to the gameplay they are set.

It's just nice to be reminded of the more civilized age of single player big budget games and not this Gen Z multiplayer F2P Twitch streaming crap.

Yup. Cutscenes in Sony games just feel like movies at this point. And most their worlds are beautiful enough to stop and take in views up until the very end.

I don't even know if this counts as a spoiler. It's very vague. But maybe you don't wanna know even vague things lol. I won't make that call for you. It's more so just encouragement to push on.

There's a very beautiful place waiting for you at the end.

It's among the greats.

I liked the main story and how the open world looks but everything about the open world itself gets so samey. There's just a complete lack of surprise or anything to discover. There's like three kinds of random encounters (guards with a hostage, guards on patrol and guards fighting a bear) and the same recycled side missions.

Game really sells HDR better than most, that's for sure

My GOTY of 2020. Legends is also pretty addicting.

You can argue those aren't spoilers. But they are. They're an attempt to take away mystery of finding out what encounters are first hand

Game just oozes Kurosawa. It's like Taratino and Kurosawa made a film together.

Definitely put it on hard. Combat is easy. Beautiful graphics even on a base PS4. I REALLY ENJOYED THE EXPLORATION, ESPECIALLY THE CLIMBING.

there's another game that came out pretty recently, Trek to Yomi, that emulates the Kurosawa aesthetic really well.

but I think it also has supernatural elements.

I don't get what I am spoiling? Nothing in the open world is a surprise. They even specifically mark exactly what it is as soon as you're near it.

I know if I was playing a game I was just getting into, Id love for the appearance of a certain animal to come as a very fun surprise. Not everyone has the same perspective on spoilers. And for that reason, Id never talk about a game I was currently trying to enjoy online. For people like me, exploring and coming across new things (enemies included) in the open world is one my favorite parts.

Also, that "Nothing on the open world is a surprise" makes literally no sense. Unless you some reason assume the person looked up everything in the open world before playing for some reason

But, to your credit. She isn't me and is soneone who likes to talk about the games she's playing online, so maybe it doesn't matter to her

Sorry but saying that a specific animal in a game is a spoiler is a bit bonkers to me.

You don't need to look anything up. You're introduced to all of the potential side stuff you can stumble upon in the first few hours of the game. Those are reused throughout the entire rest of the game as checklist objectives to complete. Then there's random encounters with enemies that are constantly reused. Everything else is scripted missions marked on your map.

That's what I mean by no surprise in the open world. It has a good main narrative, some good side quests and the rest of it is boring open world checklist design.
