Your employer can tell you can't go, but they also can't legally fire you for going. So just call his bluff. If he fires you, he's fucked. That's pro bono level fucked.

And that's how I'm able to get out of it everytime I get a jury summons. My employer gives me a letter stating that they do not pay employees on jury duty and that would result in a financial hardship for me. Boom! Automatically dismissed every time. I just submit the letter through the jury portal online.
