Cao Cao would be some kind of business psychopath genius, wouldn't he?

I would love it if Dynasty Warriors evolved big like Monster Hunter did with World.

They made a kick ass game that was advanced back in the ps2 era, and then they just made the same game a half a hundred times and stagnated while the rest of video games made advancements.

Imagine what a DW game could be like if they actually tried to make it high quality and modern.

Kind of depends on which dynasty Warriors we're talking about. They've been a lot nicer to Cao Cao lately.

They tried an open world game with 9 and it sucked. I think what kills me the most is how everyone is a clone now. Nobody really has a unique moveset anymore.

80 unique movesets on PS3 era hardware just to go back to cloned movesets on more advanced hardware

I honestly don't really care as long as whatever they make is well-designed.

I think the last one I spent a shit ton of time on was on the 360 and was like 5. Everyone had their own distinct move sets and there were a ton of characters.

I have 8 for ps4 and I keep meaning to play it more, but Im sure I could pick up the ultimate version dirt cheap somewhere by now and I dont want to spend any time on it as the games are already repetitive enough ...heh

Cao Cao IRL was actually an incredibly honorable, brilliant, and surprisingly humble individual given his successes. Unfortunately, the book Romance of the Three Kingdoms was exceptionally biased towards Liu Bei at the expense of Cao Cao, and it heavily influenced Chinese opinion for centuries, although over the past century or so, there has been a push to recognize that Cao Cao actually was the most honorable of the three warlords.

I mean people here are mentioning other Musou games like Persona Strikers and open world stuff and stuff about the movesets and how there's less of them.

I don't care about any of that stuff. I want to them to REALLY re-imagine the game. Not just do little incremental stuff here and there.

When DW first came out, it was regarded as a technological marvel. That's how it got so famous in the first place. DW2 was an early PS2 game. It was astounding to play in this big, huge battlefield surrounded by hundreds of actual enemies, and you were like a war god going through them. The draw was the technological prowess of that engine and what it could provide for you.

Now the DW engine is considered a joke. It's bottom-tier on the technological marvel scale.

I don't want a DW game that's like Persona Strikers. I want something that's the modern day equivalent of those original DW2 and 3 games. I want something that's visually stunning and blows people away, and does stuff that's never been done before. Completely throw out the blueprint for what DW games have historically been, and completely start from scratch, with the goal of recreating a stunning, large scale, historical Chinese battle with super human warriors you can play as.

theres very little dirty humor in it and at least as far as i watched he doesnt seem to be into her

its from an anime where zhuge liang gets his last wish of wanting to live in a peaceful era by reincarnated in the middle of modern japan. he wonders confused into a night club and meets a musician girl who he gets totally entranced by the voice of and decides to use his strategy skills to get her a famous music career

That said, I don't know how anyone can read that novel and not conclude that all three founders in the story were absolute monsters, even the "virtuous" Liu Bei.

It's been awhile since I read the novel, but what atrocities did Liu Bei commit?

One of the funniest parts of the novel to me is that it portrays Lu Bu as a man with no loyalty who betrays people on a dime, which isn't altogether inaccurate, but Liu Bei does it about as much as him and yet is a total saint.

-He betrays Cao Cao, who's treated him super well for a good while, because he recieves a "secret edict from the emperor"(which is a plot device used constantly throughout it and almost never actually a legitimate thing that happened, just something people say to excuse themselves)

-Founds Shu on the betrayal of Liu Zhang, who originally invited him in to assist him in the defense of Yi Province. Which honestly isn't that far off from what happens with the super evil Dong Zhuo early in the novel.

-Betrays Sun Quan, his ally at the time, by taking a valuable province that would have allowed Wu an inroad to invade Wei by claiming they were just using it as a temporary staging area and never returning it. This triggers a long chain of events which basically spells the beginning of the end of Shu.

He's really merciless on top of that. Liu Bei kills guys on the reg throughout the novel that he isn't exactly open enemies with and there is always an excuse about them having secretly turned to banditry or having done something else bad and not giving Liu Bei any choice but to have their head lopped off. Like there's always an excuse, but when you realize how fictionalized Romance is it starts to look faker and faker

And this is more a personal annoyance from me because his character is so frustrating through most of the story, but it was pretty awful that Liu Bei continued to employ Zhang Fei with a high rank at all. Zhang Fei in Romance is super unstable, likes to get drunk and beat the shit out of his own men, and multiple times through drunkenness or sheer incompetence gets large amounts of people killed because he wants to pick fights with people like Lu Bu. Even Liu Bei points out how shit Zhang Fei is at being in charge of anyone but never really does anything about it.

In the true historical records, Liu Bei could at very best be described as a typical Warlord, serving only himself and willing to pretty much sacrifice anyone to escape. In fact, Cao Cao was basically the only one of the major warlords featured in the book who, in real life, made any attempt at all to establish normalcy and return imperial stability.

One of the more common arguments made lately is that the well-deserved admiration for his strategist, Zhuge Liang (who by nearly every account was considered a legitimate genius), somehow retroactively made Liu Bei more admired than he deserved.
